Hi all, just joined as I'm looking to buy my first Rangie after many years of owning a Disco.

Last weekend I loaned a friends 4.4 RR to tow my steam roller, yes a twelve ton steam roller. I needed to pull it out of one shed and into another. The tractor we normally use wasn't working so my mate offered use of the Rangie. I was sceptical it would move it then mightily impressed when it did, so much so I'm going to buy one!

I'll be trawling the site for hints and tips.

My first decision is petrol v diesel.....

Cheers.

Welcome,
There's a some great info on buying in the wiki (link top right)

Petrol v diesel is the biggest dilemma, all depends on your use.

Good luck with the hunt.

Welcome to the forum …..I guess the sign on is ref a pretty old steam roller?

I have had a petrol 4.2 supercharged and loved it! no trouble at all in the 18 months i owned the car. Sold to buy a Jaguar XKR supercharged and then recently swapped back into a full fat but this time the 4.4 TDV8….so far so good and i think the car performs just about as well as the supercharged but with much better fuel economy. Time will tell but i think i am going to really like the TDV8 and i had always said i would never drive a diesel.

Good luck with your search. This forum is a mine of information so use it well.

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Buckingham Blue

Hello. I've just bought our first Range Rover (2007 model) so figured this is a good place to be.

I previously drove an Audi S8 and found the forums invaluable.

My wife had always wanted a RR so I thought I'd treat her. She's had a rubbish year and this has really put a smile on her face.

There will be questions - lots of questions. Please bear with me while I get familiar with them.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Santorini Black
New Member and Ex-Defender owner returning to LR

This is my first post on here so hoping I don't drop any newbie clangers.

After nine years of owning a LR90 (1989 2.5 petrol converted to 300TDi) and driving it for about 150k miles, I decided my hearing would be better saved by buying something more refined. I ended up with a new Saab a few months before they went under…if you want stock buying tips, just pick the opposite of what I pick!

After the Saab, I moved to Mercedes-Benz and after several different models, I am looking to realise a forty year dream of owning a Range Rover.

I have always loved the Classic (I remember my first sight of one in 1975) but for many reasons, most boring and probably irrational, I am instead looking to buy the supercharged L322 and have my eye on a couple of 2012 models currently in the dealer network. Hopefully, more will become available with the Autobiography trim level…I haven't worked out what Westminster Edition is yet.

All I have to do is sell my current fleetlet (small fleet) and I am up and running and buying! The only proviso is that I have convinced my wife using man logic that L322s aren't that big being in between in size between her old 9-3 estate and my old
9-5 estate..what could possibly go wrong?

All that remains is to say thank you for letting me join the forum and to reassure everyone not to read anything into my chosen name..it was handed to me by a group of friends who had 110s and is antonym relating to the size of my old 90.

^wecome.

Not too sure how you convinced swmbo that the 322 is somewhere between a 9-3 and 9-5 so good luck when you get one... Laughing

User name is great, at least it's got an N in the middle...... Other wise it could be misconstrued .... Thumbs Up there is plenty of info on here and buying guides to have a read through before you take the plunge Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

^

My inner child is giggling at the thought of being called GiantLADYman and speaking like Leslie Phillips.

Thanks for the welcome. As for the 322, aren't ladies always saying that size matters? I am contemplating phoning the dealer in advance to arrange for them to show my wife an Evoque…well, it is a Range Rover. As long as it is the same colour as the 322, what could go wrong? Twisted Evil

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Orkney Grey

Hi All,

I'm Ollie and currently looking at RR Vogue SE TDV8 07 I have seen one and going back to see it again shortly.

I've own a number of cars ranging from French rubbish to Jap off roaders to my daily BMW.

I've spent the last 5 years doing a lot of track days, Currently Towing round the country in a 530D so it's time to upgrade since I'm now not doing 90 miles a day to work. its only 40 miles to work Mr. Green

Would be good if anyone could point in the rite direction of decent towbars and a range rover specialist South Buckinghamshire.

Great forum, found the buyers guide already.

A man call Jon point this way, he has some bright orange RR Rolling with laughter

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black
Hello!

Hello all - in time honoured fashion, allow me to introduce myself! Name is Giles and live in East London - I have owned a black/black 2006 4.2S for a year now which has been fantastic. Looking to replace it with another black/black L322, as late as possible 5.0S and keep it for the long term.

Cheers

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Fuji White
Newly - RiDDO

Hi Forum,

I feel a bit stupid introducing myself after I've already posted, but etiquette and all that . . . . . .

I'm RiDDO (Ian) and have recently purchased a 2012 FFRR Autobiography in Fuji White, with Ivory/Jet leather. It's not my first FF, but there has been a near ten year gap between my last L322, and the one I've just bought.

I'm an electronics & mechanical engineer (we make pressure transducers for extrusion machines), I'm big into music, computers, hacking cars, dogs, and amateur radio.

I've had several years in commercial vehicles (Transit's mainly) and an X5 more recently.

Look forward to contributing, sharing, and having a laugh with likeminded FFRR owners.

Nice to meet you all. --RiDDO
