It doesn't matter how much magical mouse milk you throw at the injectors, it will not repair a worn out tip / nozzle or fix a broken valve. And if it was so good at getting the injectors cleaned then there would be no place for specialists with ultrasonic cleaning equipment and test rigs. If they were purely mechanical injectors, then you could test them outside of the engine and determine if they needed a new tip, but as the all the range rover diesels from 2002 on are all common rail injection, they are electrical, so with out the test rig there is no way of testing them properly. Having gone to all through all the motions of removing the injector to "test it" you might as well just take it to Bosch and get a warranty and piece of mind.

Just think of injectors as very long life spark plugs, that will need to be changed at around the 100K mileage, only you can get them reconditioned rather than having to replace them Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

injector prob PLUS .....

Thank you Miggit and others. I am sorry about the late reply to your posts but holidays and working away have meant that the car hasn't had too many trips to do.
However! After only about 5 mins travelling now, the car now goes into TRANS. FAILSAFE PROG mode. I do have to nurse the poor thing, but fortunately, I am only doing a few local runs and keep below 30mph ( its difficult to get her to go faster anyway! ) and keep the revs as low as poss. The longest journey that she will be doing, if my phonecall to Fastline is successful tomorrow, will be to Kettering ASAP.
After reading all your posts to help me in this situation, I would just like to say that my L322 has doen 185,000 miles and by looking at the service record, it doesn't appear to have had any major work done, soooooooo, I should expect some probs, shouldn't I ?
But that's ok... she is such a lovely drive when she is 'on heat' she is worth it ! Smile
Any thing else that you lads would like to add about my woes will be gratefully accepted. 'Knowledge Is Power'

Your Trans fail safe is not the engine Shocked but if it has sat for a while it's more that likely a low charge in the battery, if you've had a flat battery going from full lock to full lock and back to full lock with the steering might cure it, sorry I can never remember which way to turn it first, hence the back and forth Embarassed Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... TRANS FAILURE..

Thank you for your swift update.
The TRANS FAILURE warning comes on after a couple miles/mins and as the car starts first time of asking I doubt that it will be a low battery. Will FastLine be able to rectify/discover why this warning is displayed as well as injector prob, do you think? 'Knowledge Is Power'

Trans Failure is usually down to an “under par battery” sir... Just because when you turn the key, the car starts! Does NOT mean your battery in NOT “under par” sir...

Change it now is my advise... Going into the winter! Will only get worse!!! Thumbs Up

battery

Thanks Craig.
Do you think that it the warning will NOT 'ping' into action if the battery is replaced then?
It is certainly a LOUD 'ping' to warn you about a prob as insignificant as a LOW battery charge.
But I am in your debt all the same.
Thank you. 'Knowledge Is Power'

^^ I was getting at that, if the battery is not fully charged then all sorts of silly bongs go off. As I said if it has sat around for some time then it could be a low charge issue, but a run to Kettering should sort that out Thumbs Up

And as for the loud ping / Bong, you obviously haven't run low on screen wash yet....... it makes the same fuss, only has 2 states OK but waiting in silence to pounce and the Bong of Death, backed up by the screen of Doom Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Bong of Death !

Thanks Miggit.
I have been fortunate not to run out of screen wash ! Phewwwwww! lol
I had thought that the TRANS Failure warning was worse than just the battery because around the same time as that went BONG, my car decided that it didnt want to move up a gear so now I am driving, what appears to be, in 2nd gear at most. I cant get above 30mph without hitting 3000 revs, 3000revs -which I hate doing and consequently, I am usually causing a bit of a tailback behind me. This problem, I hope, is connected to the injector prob Crying or Very sad
# And something totally unconnected, I think ! My car's parking sensors have NEVER worked. The single long beep goes off when I put her in reverse and then it stops after a second and the light flashes on the button... and then I reverse into a wall without any quick bleeps to warn me. HOWEVER! On Sunday morning, suddenly, without warning...... The sensors worked!! I didn't back into the wall !! ....... the sensors haven't worked since !!
Anyways... any comments are willingly accepted!
Cheers! 'Knowledge Is Power'

That will more than likely be a rotten loom on the rear, the PDC has a bit of a reputation for bad connections, especially on the back Sad , it could be a sensor, but the fact that it came back from the dead makes me think it's the loom. On the upside you can get a new one for around £40 Thumbs Up

Re gearbox, is there any way you can put a battery charger on the car? You might find that it cures it's self with a fully charged battery Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Long time for an update... Sorry

Hello everyone who tried to help me regarding the 'juddering and hunting' performance of my L322.
It ended up with me needing 3 new injectors fitting . They have been fitted for about 4 months now and so far, so good. This problem was made worse as I kept having the Trans Fail message but that was ( I think ) due to a massive gearbox problem Crying or Very sad
Apparently ( and this is copying from the invoice ) the converter had collapsed thus blocking the filter inside the oil pump which affected the pressure inside the gearbox which in turn took out 4th and 5th gear and intermediate clutch. It all came to a Fecking lot of money... but what choice does one have ???? Rolling Eyes
At least she is running nicely for now. Dont they slurp some juice ??!! lol
Thank you. 'Knowledge Is Power'
