A update on the problem, indicators still working and radio has sound BUT no display or sat nav, weird indeed.

The fault with the display is down to a corroded pin in the TV/ENTERTAINMENT UNIT YIL 000023 . So has anyone attempted to repair one or is it just a case of buying a new unit. Is ok to drive with this unit removed.

If this is the tv module you can disconnect the blue and white plugs from the module, discard it and then reconnect the plugs directly from the satnav module to the radio module and everything will work as before bar the tv.
To achieve this you also need to remove the satnav module from it's cradle and move it nearer to the radio module so that the cables can reach.
When my tv module failed I did this and drove round for about 9 months before i sourced a new tv module.
I just sat the satnav module on the other bits on a wad of cloth and shut the access panel on it. Never had a problem.
I honestly can't remember the exact wiring configuration I used but I do know it just meant plugging in white and blue plugs into white and blue sockets simply without the tv module.

Could try cleaning up the pins with a bit of contact cleaner / emery cloth / sandpaper / flat screwdriver / whatever you can find Howard

Just make sure you switch the ignition off and wait until the red light on the satnav module goes out and then slacken the nuts holding the unit in the mounting frame, pull the unit forward out of the frame and then disconnect the cables. Once out of the frame plug the cables back in and look to do what I can't remember.

Cheers for that niceday, i did notice that red light on sat nav is NOT going out even with the keys in my pocket

It should eventually, can take 20 minutes I recall.
Having said that I have on occasions disconnected the unit whilst the light has been on without causing any problems even though others have warned against doing this as it will result in doom.

I know one thing for sure l405 has got a lot closer now.

Classic symptoms of water ingress to the boot area as a result of the rear upper tailgate seal failing.
The first thing you need to do is replace the seal to stop the water ingress.
The satnav unit looks past it's best, was it working initially?
I'm afraid to say that while you are at it it would be worth removing the DSP unit and having a look in that also. Water may also have got in there too. The DSP unit is the large black box nearest the back of the car.
If both these units are now damaged and the tv unit will be analogue anyway I would seriously consider replacing the whole lot with a more upto date system as per the link below.
Even if you replace all the units on a like for like basis the entire system is dated and it would in fact be cheaper to start again.

Thanks niceday for that link ( it could be the route i end up taking ) As for now all four units are in the drying out process, i will then take apart clean and refit and see what happens. Thanks again for your time and help in this, will report back when im done. Brian.
