the old tpms chesnut

Hi all, I know this is an old annoying problem that has been discussed before, but I am now at a loss what to do. Initial fault was the intermittent yellow warning light on and a message saying "check all tyre pressures". So after doing all the suggested tests and checks I today collected a new TPMS Module. Fitted it and all was OK for 10 mins or so and about 5-6 miles, then the yellow light came on and the message "Tyre Pressure Monitoring System Fault" flashed up, stayed on for a while then went off. Yellow light on all the time.

2007MY Supercharged RHD.

Any further suggestions greatly appreciated.

Did you replace a the monitor in the wheel arch or the one in the wheel itself ?

How did you know which one to replace ?

I got so sick of mine that I bought an IID tool & disabled it

i did the same as Alistair...i had random warnings for no reason so i switched it off.. ... - .- -.

It was neither, I replaced the TPMS ECU in the boot area. The Jaguar dealer I worked at did try to disable the system but the technician was not able to with the T4 system.

OK. So are there different makes and if so what one would you suggest or recommend?

If you don't need to do much else - it may be worth trying to find someone close to you that has one as you can add additional vehicle unlock codes for £60

Ours doesn't seem to have TPMS (it appears to have standard rubber valves). I thought they all had it unless owners take their own steps and nobody's touched ours.

TPMS was always an option right up until legislation made it compulsory in 2014. That said a lot of 2010 onwards models seem to have it but the later cars seem more reliable.

I was never sure quite why the BMW system never made it to LR vehicles though. That works off the ABS sensors and detects if a wheel is turning faster than the others which would indicate low tyre pressure. Much more reliable from what I've seen.

I have a 2013 L405 without TPMS

Agree on the BMW point - we have an 05 Mini that has been super reliable

Not only is the LR system flaky, but the valves themselves seem very susceptible to corrosion
