Yep, mine has 22s and spare fits no problem. I'm guessing it's not the lightest of things but hopefully if you ever need it you might get someone to give you a lift |

I was specifically warned, by my Indy, when searching for a car, to check the spare wheel is the same size as the ones on the car.

^ Yes, but the rolling diameter will be the same regardless of rim size. a 19" could still be used as a spare without issues as long as it uses the same nuts as the 22's on the car. |

just regard the 19'' the same as a space saver wheel, fit it [if needed] to get you home...

Easily. Plenty of calculators online. This was a quick shufty I managed. Different rims require different profiles of tyre, hence the RR (rolling radius) remains relatively constant. Remember, the profile number is a percentage of the width of the tyre so if you increase width without reducing profile the RR gets bigger. |

So, just when I thought I could use the 19" wheel as a spare it turns out that the studs don't line up, it's obviously not going to work.

So, does anyone have a 22" rim or a space saver spare for an L405 for a reasonable price?

As has been mentioned, its the overall rolling diameter that is important. e.g. a big wheel with a low profile tyre can have the same diameter as a smaller wheel with a fatter tyre.

Yep, but I've seen plenty of non standard sizes Craig. Generally the 22's tend to be 265s but I've also seen 285/35/22 tyres fitted. As I said, there are plenty of calculators online which would give an equivalent rolling radius for a different sized rim. That said, my OCD made me change my space saver for an identical 20" rim bought from a member on here. |
