I finally got the poor reversing lights upgraded today
Mig Git, forum member, has finally cracked the use of LEDs in the reversing lights on the L322.
Let there be light he said: have look at the pictures below.

Did these June last year, you have to split the light units open first...

Third or forth post down, these are much brighter than the pic shows, it's all down to exposure...

The latest cree LED's would be brighter again....

Are but there is more If you have an early L322 then just putting LED's in the reversing lights works.......... later cars.......... well we'll just say that the first go was like the brightest star...... lighting all from far and wide...... and then it all went as it melted the leds

But as you can see problem solved, stable power has been achieved and all is bright and glowing  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

But as I said we found that there were issues with the voltage levels on Ian's car, 14.8 volts, which proved to be too much for the 6W cree led's that we used. To avoid lots of and , I would strongly recommend that you test your intended led panel with the engine running (so that you are at full voltage) for about 3 minutes, before you split your lights open, to make sure that they will work with your cars voltage and that they don't get too hot At one stage we were contemplating building the worlds first led powered 12v travel iron, yes they got that hot  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
