Afternoon all,

I've had my 55plate RR Vogue for around a month now and cant seem to better 17.5mpg. Almost of all my driving is town driving in start and stop traffic but at the same time my work horse Audi A3 diesel is averaging 55mpg doing the exact same.

I've recently had an inspection 2 service and also had the gearbox flush carried out.

Stuck for ideas now. Any help appreciated.

17.5mpg sounds more like it's being driven very hard with lead boots, or there is a problem.
May be better to sort that out before remapping.

I was reading through some of the posts where consumption was mentioned and was seeing figures or early to late 20's for the TD6 which is why i thought i would ask the question.

I drive very very sedately as have a small child in the car 90% of the time, very rarely reach 3000rpm if i'm brutely honest.

Was thinking about getting the EGR valve..? Do you think that could be clogged up? Nothing at all was flagged as being wrong while in the garage last week.

It depends how bad the traffic is on your commute. Mine's 10 miles, and takes around an hour!!! I think 18 for me is acceptable, and to be honest i was expecting worse. Apologies if i've posted this on my phone and it contains strange spelling and punctuation.. i just can't be bothered to correct it

looking on other sites it appears that you might need a soft reset on the gear change ecu [if there is one ]...this is done by disconnecting the battery overnight and when the ecu is powered back up it learns your driving technique and should give you better gear change which should result in more mpg....i dont know how true this all is but when i had my remap i was told that it would take 300 miles for the ecu to learn my driving habits so there might be something in it, worth a try... ... - .- -.

Will give it a shot Scarey. I presume if i lock the car the disconnect the battery then when i re-connet tomorrow it will still unlock? Hope it wont loose the pairing. Maybe a silly question

i would lock the car manually when you have disconnected the battery , but leave the car untouched for about half hour to get rid of any residual voltage...

btw ,are you first owner if not maybe the car learnt the previous drivers way of driving..[thinking aloud here] ... - .- -.

did you guys get anywhere with this?? I seem to get the same fuel consumption in town and on the motorway. I have a TD6 and the display is showing approx 18 to 19mpg.
