Hydro Dipping - Internal & External Trim?

Some of the interior trim in my SC is looking a little worn. I was going to get some replacement trim, but V expensive so considering do a spray job but then one of my mates turned today on his customised street motor bike which is covered in carbon trim and looks amazing. He basically said, don't mess about respraying, takes too long, HYDRO DIP it, you can have any effect!!!!!! I'm going to look into this in the next couple of weeks. Just need to decide if I am going to stick with Piano Black or Carbon. It would appear that the possibilities are endless.

I am having my door handles resprayed but thinking might have hydro dip instead.

On my mates recommendation I am going to use this company as it is localish to me and this is where my mate had his bike done, infact it is on this link in the Gallery section.

has anyone any experience of Hydro Dipping internal trim?

It will be as hard wearing as having it sprayed, they clear coat it with standard car paint after it's dipped...

Will last for ages as It's not in high wear areas.... Thumbs Up Pete

Remember with a carbon pattern, that the pattern has to look correctly angled, Ie across both sides of say the dash, or centre upright console... it's easy to do this different on different pieces, and the overall grain of the effect is all over the place. Unless you at having it done pro. So it's possible to mount say the centre console pieces on a rack and dip together. There is a bit of dipping going onto the wheeler dealers l322 episode.

Bookmatching... your a bit stuffed if you do the gear surround though...

This is just a wrap, much cheaper than Hydro dipping...

Is the carbon look not a bit dated now....I was putting carbon film in my Escort in 1997....

Carbon trimmed Rangey is just wrong.... Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I just couldn't stand that hand crafted real wood and wanted to cover it with cheap fake carbon, what's wrong with that?? Whistle Whistle

I know what you mean, I'd have liked piano black but it's not very hard wearing on one that gets mud inside on a regular basis, it would soon be scratched and have swirl marks, the wood on mine just looked like cheap brown plastic, not enough contrast between the visible grain and stained a very unattractive dog poo brown.... Carbon was a better option.... Thumbs Up Pete

Wheeler dealers did hydro dipping on the L322 episode, doing the same parts of the trim. Cant remember the name of the company they used, but it looked very good. A youtube search should find it . . .

 V8 or else ...

Would some plastikote enamel black not worked.....granted mine is a dole dosser compared to yours Pete...in terms of off road work but I stripped and sprayed some areas in gloss black to match the existing piano and now 2 years + later it's holding up Thumbs Up Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

If you want black you only need to sand the part back to the plastic base and then compound and polish it back to a shine.
