I have an 09 WM and I think so far I must have been exceptionally lucky ...was 2012 a bad year for them?

Mine did get warranty repair for tiny bubbles appearing on the tailgate last year but other than that it has been pretty faultless. The sticky rear brakes I can agree with...mine have stuck slightly twice...but in my case it was really my own fault parked up and underused over 2 week periods...that said other cars I have or have had have not done this.

I had this exact same issue on the D3 and they look very much like the same rear calipers...it tends to happen when the pads are part worn more, as in half way through life and the caliper piston is sitting half out when uncompressed. I also found that the brake pads can cause the issue themselves I shaved a bit off the tabs using a grinder last time mine got sticky because on that instance the caliper piston did not seem stiff and it worked a dream. 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts

^The rear pads stick be because the calliper/pad carriers rust slightly where the ears on the pads sit, making them tight and stick. To fix remove the carrier and clean with a file and re assemble, all will be fine and dandy.

It's not just the FF this affects it's any car with the TRW calipers, fixed the same problem on a mates NV200 van the other day. Pretty much the same caliper setup. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
