Random man knocked door and asked if I wanted to sell 4.2 SC

Had a nice man knock my door the other day and express an interest in my 58 plate 4.2 VSE.

Seemed genuine in a white Jaguar corporate shirt with his name on and driving a brand new Ford (available on their employee scheme). Seems he lives around the corner from me and drives past the house most days.

Chatted for a long time about RR, cars in general and if I wanted to sell mine. He sat in it and had a good look around.

Quite a bit of discussion on price. I don't have a clue what it's worth.

Anyway went on WBAC last night and it came back at £19230. Seems like a very good offer - tempted to sell.

Any thoughts?

WBAC are a good chunk below retail but at that price id be tempted to let it go as you could move into a facelifted TDV8 for that money near enough Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

You want to be a bit careful with strangers knocking on the door, they will seem so nice and genuine....

Did he ask if it had a tracker or any other security devices???

Was he left alone, for even a few seconds with access to the key or the OBD port....

99% of folk will be genuine but you have to be careful.... Thumbs Up Pete

Sad My experience of strangers knocking at the door is never that nice, they just want to tell me that their God loves me, and give me lots of booklets about their God Sad

........I wouldn't mind so much if someone was to knock and talk about my god, Sod..... the one true god...... who proves his existence by regularly smiting my Range Rover Evil or Very Mad

£19230 would be a good chunk down on a 5.0 SC........

No, that would be madness.

Im sure the 5.0litres are depreciating less than similar mile 4.4's upto 100k miles of course but then they are seen as the top of the pile and usually had a decent amount of toys as well as standard and optioned... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

WBAC are also quite well known for not giving you what the on-line tool quotes

You have to take it to them for an inspection & they will knock countless 'faults' off the quoted price Whistle
