People only moan when things go wrong....

They sell thousands of units a month and a few go wrong..... well they would wouldn't they.....

They are cheap as chips, yes some will go wrong, others will go on forever....

Spend £1000+ on a branded make and it only has a one year warranty just like this one....

Mine has been fine, had no problems at all with the unit, a few software problems with the Android part but nothing more than the Mrs has had on her Hudl.... Pete

I have contacted Crystal at Erisin and she could not find the model Peter referred to and needed a PayPal transaction ID, etc. Regardless, she has suggested an alternative model which I will consider. Peter, excellent documentation on your installation.

I am waiting for feedback from Britpart (which I know they will provide soon), but is there any software/analysis tool that can run on the unit you mentioned, which can interact with the Bluetooth IIDTool from BritPart.

I once found a link (but unfortunately lost it) to a similar replacement radio, which integrated with the car's CANBUS that could provide all the data displayed on the original radio, i.e. fuel consumption, range, etc. I can live without this information, but it would be nice to still have access to this info as well.

The unit I had has been superseded I think...

It's an Android unit and AFAIK the BTIID will work from an APP.... I've only got the non BT so can't say...

You can use a BT OBD plug and get most basic functions up, my unit came with one installed...





Gap are now selling the IID tool direct and not through Britpart so have a look at their website or their section on here... :thumbsup:

You can order it direct but at least one forum member got bitten with an additional customs charge.

MW Car history includes: LR Series 3, RR Classic x 4, LR 101, Discovery 1 and 2 and now FFRR.

You won't get a custom charge if you get it from Crystal, they pre-pay it... Takes 4 days to get here, fastracked, as it doesn't sit at customs this end....

If you get it from the UK it won't have most of the software, including the GPS software, installed, you have to find your own.... Pete

After all the detailed feedback from Pete on the replacement radio he used, Erisin (the supplier of the unit) cannot "find my country" to forward my order with DHL. I find this quite strange, since I get quite a lot of equipment from the east using DHL. However, experience has told me never to push things that does not want to work out by themselves.

Can anybody recommend a different product or supplier (other than Erisin).

I don't believe it will work. I did try with mine. To the best of my knowledge, the GAP tool Uses Bluetooth low energy (BTLE / 4.0) whereas the eresin unit only seems to support Bluetooth classic (2.1).

Jbur, the info is still available on the bottom of the dash, you can't reset the MPG but the range still works fine...

Any possible alternative replacement units, other than the one Haylands used that anybody can recommend (Since Eresin cannot find DHL Namibia)

The Torque on screen display will only work with petrol V8 models, from 2002 up and then diesel I believe late 2005 up but check first. Basically if you ffrr is diesel and BMW it ain't gonna work, cos they don't talk OBD
So the only thing that will talk to a BMW diesel is a IID tool, and it states not to leave it plugged in for long periods, so you either give up or get a V8  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
