WESTMINSTER L322

Going to take a look at this L322 this week anything I should look out for above the norm ?

Having rejected my new Discovery 4 with LR I thought I might have a change.... http://www.usedvehicles.landrover.co.uk/search#/details/2639779

That does seem quite a full price.

Mine (also 62 WM) has had corrosion issues: tailgate, upper tailgate struts, lower tailgate cable, tailgate trim, door trims (twice), wheels (though not that style) and wheel centres replaced under the three year paintwork warranty and wheel arch rust treated at my expense as LR refused to honour their warranty, citing "external influence - weather conditions".

Other warranty claims in areas that could be checked: two for buzzing/rattling from dash, two for door seal repositioning (water leak on one, noise on other), one rear door rubber seal replacement as did not fit properly, boot trim misaligned so twist catch did not meet hole in structure beneath, wheel nuts replaced due to being swollen. New gearbox required due to leak from join with engine.

Rear brakes have had to be freed off twice in 30,000 miles.

Other warranty claims that probably can't be checked for: software faults re fuel burning heater (needed new battery due to drain) and re locking, battery drained but could be revived.

Check the brake pipe recall has been done. Only Range Rovers since 1988

If it's any consolation I have been running a '59 VSE which has been pretty much faultless - now at 71k and I love it as much as when I bought it. It's had hay, dogs, babies, dead pheasant and dead deer in it, been driven down narrow forest fire breaks and over flint tracks, as well as to posh hotels and dinners.

The Air suspension was misbehaving for a while but I reconditioned the compressor and now all is bon again Cool

As tends to be the way with forums, you only get to hear the horror stories!

Uneven paint coverage inside all four doors and drivers door shut.

Going by other posts on here, my 2012 WM experience does seem unusually bad. When all is well it's a great car and I don't think anything else would suit me better. Corrosion does seem a weakness of later 322s generally though.

I haven't driven D4s that much, but would say the WM is well ahead on engine power/torque and interior, though the D4 is of course practical and tough. I also think that a good late 322 is much better value than some of the scruffier early 405s.

Good luck with your search. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Agreed. And being knocked back on the paintwork warranty claim on the basis of "weather conditions" adds insult to injury. Only Range Rovers since 1988
