Knock control offset fault - 0x1D7 P0000

Hi

So I got rid of mis-fire on the V8 - engine is very smooth

But then coil pack 5 failed and I got a misfire due to that.

Cruised home about 4 miles and found the rubber sleeve over spark plug had a small rip in it and white powder where it the spark probably arced through to the side of the well where the spark plug sits.

Replaced the coil pack - engine all well and smooth but AllComms fault code shows

0x1D7 P0000 Knock control offset fault.

Anyone any ideas - I guess it is not the actual sensor - perhaps some connector or wiring disturbed or an ECU (which may generate an offset freq or voltage - just guessing not really know what I am talking about) on its way out?

I tried clearing the fault via AllComms - but it persists - even without the engine being turned on and off again after clearing.

Thank you for reading Smile Howard

Hi Stan

Thank you very much for that.

I read about battery reset (can'rt find definitive guide) - my interpretation was it was everything just short of actually removing the battery in the wiki. I also (with some caution and eyes closed - the fact that it has an explosive charge scares me whenever I am near it) briefly shorted the positive cable terminal (disconnected from battery) to earth.

OK so fault code gone - thank you Stan for the tip.

Will take for a drive later and recheck codes. Howard

Knock Control fault stayed off - just done 150mile journey to coast and back - engine smoother than ever - a ture pleasure to drive.

Thanks for your input Stan Bow down Bow down - certainly a better outcome than I was thinking (sensor replacement or even ... to dealers for endless changing of parts while they guessed which one was faulty at my expense) Howard

'most' FF glitches tend to be addressed by a battery reset or replacement battery..
