Thanks for your reply phill

If this is the case, do you have any advice on how to remove this e-clutch and how much it would cost for replacement parts?
Will I need new pads ect?
I really don't know what to do now as I'm studying and I'm really tied for cash so if it's expensive it may take a month or two before I have time and money to do the job
Are there any kind of tests I can do to eliminate any other problems?

Glad your here phill

Chris

I know you said your vehicle wasn’t a Range Rover. What is it?

Assuming that you have the worn stator tube rear bush issue, the transmission itself is very simple to rebuild : http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic14798.html
and the bush is available to buy separately (note though that there are different sizes and materials depending upon your model).
If the controller has done its job of protecting the E-clutch from excessive slip you might get away without even needing replacement plates. Like I said, that’s assuming that the stator tube bush is the cause of your problem.

Thanks for that, its a Audi a8 4.2 Quattro. Reprtedly using the 6hp26X which is for 4 wheel drive
I thought it was quite simple as there isn't really much to them

So is there a process of elimination before I have to remove the box?

I have found a bmw box quite cheap from 2007, just enquiring about its milage.

Do you think the parts inside the bmw box will fit if I have to tear mine down since I have the X?
