Dead key fob after 3 mths without use

As some might have read, my FFRR has been off the road for 3 months. For almost all of that time it was with a repairer, who would do work on it every couple of weeks. The key I gave the repairer is ok, but the key I kept is dead in that it doesn't unlock the car. It works in the ignition ok.

Today i used the dead key in the ignition for 2 x 1 hour drives. However, this hasn't helped.

It looks like the mechanic when programming the transmission has wiped some info such as the date & time. Another thing, my bluetooth connects with the car but not properly. The phone says its connected but it doesn't. Advice on this would also be appreciated.

thanks

Yes, I followed Dan's procedure as follows:

Initialisation Procedure

1 Ensure the vehicle is unlocked and the driver and front passenger doors are closed.
2 Install a key/remote handset in the ignition switch, then turn the ignition switch to position I and back to position 0 in less than 5 seconds to put the BCU into the initialisation mode. Continue the procedure within 30 seconds of turning the ignition switch to position 0.
3 Remove the key/remote handset from the ignition switch.
4 Press and hold the unlock button for a maximum of 15 seconds. During this time, momentarily press the lock button three times within 10 seconds.
5 Release both buttons.
6 Successful initialisation is indicated by the BCU locking then unlocking the vehicle. If this does not occur, repeat step 4.
7 Repeat steps 4 and 5 with all other remote handsets belonging to the vehicle (4 maximum). Begin the initialisation of each remote handset within 30 seconds of completing the previous initialisation, or the BCU will drop out of the initialisation mode and the complete procedure will have to be started again. ______________________________

As long as you don't make the mistake of turning the ignition off between keys you are doing everything right , try a battery reset and persevere a few more times . I had the same problem and took it to the stealers to be told I needed new keys , $1700 here unlike the 170 GBP everyone else pays so I took it home and tried again with the re-sync which worked this time .
I suppose the capacitor could be dead but try a few more times before admitting defeat and falling into the clutches of the stealer . 2008 MY Supercharged

For your phone if its still not working properly, try pairing a different phone then try your one again. Even my MY12 fussed when first pairing my phone, but fixed after pairing the dealer's phone then mine again.

The clock and time cleared would have been caused by the battery having been disconnected.

I gave the key procedure another crack without success. I've given it back to the mechanic this morning. He will autologic it without charge to sync the keys. Thanks anyway.

And thanks Graeme, I'll give that a try. The Bluetooth is working sometimes, and other times half works in that it connects but there's no sound out of the speakers or phone. ______________________________
