Just to clarify on this mod...can you re-use the old straps? If not do you need only 1 (the right side) for this mod.

The left one stays the same, the one on the right has a lug on it for the damper to attach to. So yes left is optional, right is different.  There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

You'll need the the setting tool to use those S/S ones I'd flog them on the bay of fleas and get the ally ones, will save you a lot of  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Just for the record, I blame you , i didn't even know what a rivnut was until you said I needed two. So I went on eBay searched for rivnut and bought the first ones that came along size M6. They were the Stainless Steel badgers, I have just reordered in Aluminium along with a suitable drill so hopefully will finish the job this coming week.

Please forgive me, I should have kept quite and let you fiddle around with nuts and bolts, but I recon you'd need more than 2 nuts, and your ffrr would end up sounding like a babies rattle  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I did look at fiddling around with nuts and bolts, even removed the tailgate carpet but it looked a bit of a to do so I put it all back together and ordered some more rivnuts in aluminium - you did advise me correctly they are the right solution just not Stainless ones. I also took you advice about ordering the strut from Dan  Geoff

By the time you've added the carriage charges that the parts boys want, to the cost of an after sales damper, it's cheaper to buy from L/R

And I did the same as you, removed the tailgate carpet, looked in to the hole, and thought that I'd be lucky to drop a nut down that gap let alone place it with any accuracy, and back together it all went............... out with the Rivnuts  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I got my camera out for some other pics so the following might help some out, I used rivets as suggested by miggit but its important to get aluminium ones my first efforts with stainless steel was ballachingly unsuccessful. I also swapped the bolts for M6 screws as I had plenty and IMO it looks better..

My screws have come loose! (after a few months) anyone locally got the rivnut tool that I could borrow?
