The search for the coolant leak.

Well started the search for my coolant leak and I currently have the inlet and water valey stripped. Have found many small leaks. Will post some pics later. But it's going good. Fill you in later. Loads of pics for you.

Will put pics on when I get in. Up to now a very straight forward job. Big but simple enough. Looks worse than it is. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

She's done 91k. Took about 3 hours to strip so hoping it goes back together today a bit quicker. Took most of the day to get where I'm upto with stripping and then prepping and cleaning ready for rebuild. It's actually a simple job. Think the biggest spanner was a 13mm an that was for removing the pollen filter housing. Everything else was a 10mm. I got quoted 4hours by my local Indy which is probably doable if you do it every day. We lost alot of time disconnecting the injector haness's. They are in a crap position and have the cOnectors with the metal retaining clip but there the worst way you could think! [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Jobs complete. No leaks as yet but its early days Whistle . She now runs better but what its down to im not sure. I replaced the PCV valve and seals, so hopefully thats what's caused it. After i had put her all back together she started first time which was a relief. My knees are black and blue, have cuts all over my forearms and a swore head from leaning on the scuttle. the list of parts i used were:
Valley Pan = LCW00001 (11141742042)
WATER JACKET (black plasstic valey cover) = LDR000350 (11141736106)
INLET GASKET (x4) = LKJ000040 (11611433328)
INLET MANIFOLD FRONT GASKET = LKJ000050 (11611729727)
INLET MANIFOLD REARGASKET GASKET = LKJ000060 (11611729728)
PCV = LKR000040
COOLANT HOSE O RINGS large (x2) = PYX000040 (11531710048)
COOLANT HOSE O RINGS SMALL (x2) = PYX000050 (11531710055)
COOLANT MANIFOLD GASKET (x2) = PET000030 (11531731833)
SPACER (inlet manifold) x10 = LYF000110 (11611736648)
VENT PIPE RING = LYX000150 (11611745195)
PCV VENT GASKET = LWF000010
* BMW part numbers in brackets

As it turned out i never used the PCV vent gaskets as they came already fitted to the PCV itself. I never used the front inlet gasket as i never had the 2nd gasket needed for connecting the throttle body to the spacer. If i was to do the job again i would have got the other 2 hose's for the PCV. The bottom hose of the cyclone was rock hard and no good and the 2nd hose of the PVC to the sump was shot and caused the oil leak down the RH side of the valley. I got some hose from halfroads that will prob be better than standard but we can only hope.

The leaks i had were from the valley pan, where the hose leaves the rear water manifold, and 4 tie ins for the LPG system.

i used this website as a guide: http://www.members.cox.net/rlacm/IntakeIndex.htm Its a break down from a 5 series and a lot isn't relevant to us but its a good guide and has a lot of useful hints and tips. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]
