When my car had a bad hair day, LR Recovery handed me onto a car hire company (Can't remember which). They tried very hard to find me a 4x4 as I couldn't take any of the many saloons that they offered me (I was about to go shooting). I wasn't too worried about the delay before my shoot, as I have an Aston so I wasn't going to be stranded.

The car hire company worked very hard to find something but all they could get was a Discovery. The chap was almost phoning me too much - I didn't need updates, just a car. The Disco was brand new but, well, it was a Discovery. The chap drove for about 200 miles to get it too me. I can't fault his commitment.

By the time he sorted it, my car was fixed, so the only time I drove it was to drive it to the dealer to collect my jalopy.

When I had a serious electrical problem with my L322 which necessitated a substantial rewiring and a long time at the dealers, LR got me a top of the range RRS and even provided a tow bar to enable my wife to take her horse out and about. I was very impressed.

I too have been pleased with the responses to get me a replacement vehicle. Recently had a problem with electric towbar and needed it next day. Called LR Assist on recommendation of MD. Engineer could not fix it, put me in for a loan vehicle - Enterprise rental were on the phone after 15 mins, the manager came out especially to meet me at the MD at 9:30 in the evening, working around my other commitments that evening, and provided another FFRR with towbar.

Back when my L322 gave up with DPF issues had similar service.

I think you have been a bit unlucky. 2019 D5 HSE Lux SDV6 Indus

Finally at 16:00 today Thrifty delivered a RRS AB to me, I suppose better late than never, but almost 4 days??

It is a "15" and has covered only 5k miles but has all alloys kerbed, seats stained and is combination of Censored brown seats and carpet with baby Censored brown/beige dash and door panels, who would choose this colour combo?

RR Dealer gave me an update that there is no update so I don't think it will be back soon.

So, you go out and spend a serious amount of money on a new car, and it breaks down, which is bad enough.

Then, to make matters worse they leave you without a car for 4 days.

Then to add insult to injury they tell you that they are no closer to finding out what has gone wrong with your expensive new car.

Is it me, or is this just completely unacceptable ??

Sounds a bit strong - they didn't leave him without a car - it just wasn't a RR

Just because the issue isn't resolved, doesn't mean they haven't done anything - maybe they have had it in a corner and totally ignored it - but its a bit if a leap in logic to say they are no closer. - IMHO

"dealer gave me an update, that there is no update" - that's sounds distinctly like no closer to me Whistle

Didn't think he had been given a car - apologies if I missed that - though the "weekend excuse" was causing the delay with the X5 possibility ?

Let's just remind ourselves of the context here, this is supposed to be one of the best (and its certainly very expensive) cars in the world - so I don't think it is "a bit strong" to be honest Thumbs Up

We are all different, and I accept that perhaps we all have different expectations and standards Thumbs Up

Well can it get any worse??? Big Cry

Pulled off the drive in the RRS loaner this morning and lost all power. The car would only crawl along and I was presented with a huge red triangle on the dash saying "restricted performance". I pulled over a few hundred meters from my home and shut down. I pressed the button for LR support and it didn't work!!

I used my own phone to inform the hire company "Thrifty"what had happened. I tried the car again and it drove normally, but for how long? I was told an AA patrol would meet me at my office. I made it to the office and the AA guy plugged into the RRS. He told me that he had to have it recovered as there was a turbo related fault and some other issues.

I had an important meeting scheduled at 14:30 that I couldn't move. LR could only get me a C class Mercedes immediately and the new RRS delivered later to my home. Although the C class was promised before 13:00 it was almost 14:00 when it arrived. Its interior was dirty with cigarette smoke air freshener and what looked looked like ash all over the steering wheel and clocks.

Completed the meeting and then met the next RRS sport at my house. Same interior combo of poo and poo. I then noticed I had received a text from LR saying there were no updates on my car being fixed??

I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

Big Cry

It's LR so expect to be let down then pleasantly surprised, that's part of the package with the brand. I'm yet to figure it out but put it down to ignorance or lack of real desire to give the best customer service because the RR is one of the most desirable brands around right now?

Am I the only one in not understanding my allegiance to LR? If this was a supplier to my business they would out the door immediately. I went through the same LR customer experience 10 years ago with a 2 year old L322, we even put 20000 miles on a loaner Discovery as they tried to find out what was at fault! It seems nothing has changed yet we still flock to buy their products, BUT why? I can't figure it out, must be a character flaw Thumbs Up

Day 6

LR Dealer called to ask if I had fitted anything to the RR. There was a forward facing camera fitted, on delivery, 5 months and 5000 miles ago. I have the mini 0801 DVR. Surely they are not going to try and blame that? Smacks of desperation that after 4 days of tests they can't fix it.

You bet they will, be prepared, they have primed you to have to say yes then will come the "breach of warranty guidelines" speech to get them out of their predicament

Now I have the opposite problem. My Mini Cooper S is jumping out of first gear and may need a new gearbox.( Not good for a 16 month old car). BMW are picking it up this morning and have said they will deliver a loan car. I asked for a small car as we already have the L322 for journeys etc but they want to give me a 5 series BMW. When I said it was not suitable and I wanted a small car there was a problem because they were not allowed to give me anything other than a BMW. Waiting for a call back!
