Carpark question

Hello all,

My second newbie question I'm afraid. Embarassed

What is the lowest height carpark I will be able to get into?
My work carpark has a max height of 2m. Will I be ok?

The RR is an 04 TD6 if that makes any odds.

Also what safety measures are there to stop the air suspension raising from access height if I lowered it in a carpark?
Or would one just crunch the roof if she started to raise up Shocked Big Cry "If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through."

Thats awesome, very useful.
Thanks very much.

I think it's going to be access height and "steady as she goes" if I risk the office carpark then! "If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through."

Anyone know what they mean 'Deep Sea Markets' on P12?

Looked a bit further back and think it's when they send them by ship - P9

max height of my 2006 MY car with the roof mounted fin aerial at the back is 1.9m.

You should be fine, stick it in access mode and lock it down till you leave. Thumbs Up

Access mode lowers it by 40mm to 1.86m Discovery 4 HSE

Dealer told me anything under 2m, I'll be safe.
According to Mick's link at 1863mm std ride height, it equals to 1.88m, so you're well clear Thumbs Up

I tried to park in the NCP in Wolverhampton today and the sign stated 6ft. As I drove in, I watched the sign through the sunroof and it just touched the roof Shocked Luckily, the sign was hangin by chains, so it swung about. Soon reversed out and found an open air car park around the corner! Smile

1.88m overall ride height equals to 6ft2, so 2inches off.....

I have been avoiding multi-storey car parks since I bought the RR.

I have seen a couple of FFRR's in the local shopping centre multistorey car park. My missus takes this as proof that you can get an FFRR in there (height limit 1.8m), but I pointed out that they both may have had scraped or battered roof's from entering the car park.

Incidentally, one was being driven by a bloke and had the suspension locked in Access, the other was driven by a woman and was at normal height. So, do women have better judgement of size Smile or do they just not care, or realise? (judging by my sister in law who tried to get her people carrier into a low car park with a roof box attached, I think I know the answer!)

Just thought I'd add to this thread, my recent Eurotunnel experience. Last trip a tad costly as the max vehicle height bar set at 1850mm 'removed' the GPS fin....... Having been told by Eurotunnel reservations that the FFRR would be within the 1850mm limit ( Offical RR Figures 1820mm ).. Offered £20 compensation in return... THANKS !

Was your car locked down in access height or mormal height?

I plan to go on the Eurotunnel in June, this is now a serious problem! Discovery 4 HSE

It was switching between modes, hence the 'incident'. I have used the tunnel before and when access height is selected you have about 2mm to spare. To be on the safe side when booking tickets now I select car + roofbox/bike option or van which is the same price and you to travel with the coaches on the single storey carriages which is far more pleasant IMO Wink

If anyone fancies taking their FFRR into the car parks in the Westfield Centre in Derby to "double check" (with their roof) the height for me, I'd be grateful Very Happy Very Happy

I have seen one FFRR go in to the underground bit, he drove IN through the OUT gate to avoid the hanging height sign on chains. I suspect therefore that there is a large element of caution built into the height limit signs (ie. signs are actually lower than the height they state).

I've been very cautious with car park heights since taking my series 3 under a bridge in Birmingham that the sign said had plenty of room, and scraped the vent domes on the roof (about -1mm of clearance!)

Also had the shock of my life when I drove into New Street station in SIII with large CB aerial still on (you know the ones with the big spring at the bottom!). It caught on the height limit sign and sprung back, whacking the roof. The noise frightened the life out of me and two BTP coppers stood on the pavement next to me (big hollow BANG)! Is there a name for a foebia of Car park height signs?Laughing
