Laminated glass has it's advantages and disadvantages, Advantages include better sound insulation and security, down side is if you have to get out after a woopsy, you can't smash the glass and climb out. As far as strength goes, toughened glass is a lot stronger, and harder to brake Very Happy , but once it's broken it will disintegrate in to thousands of tiny bits Sad . Where as the laminated will crack a lot easier but will stay together in one piece. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Not checked if my 08 has this yet.

My audi does, they call it double pane glass, reduces noise. However I have seen some older ones start to mist at the corners, presumably due to the laminate breaking down.

Those old S class 'Diana' Mercs defo had double glazing, sort of sealed units.
Aparently, when you took the option, a guy would come round your house, and talk about the benefits, and would not leave until you signed up for the double glazing, after halving the original bill, then the receptionist would ring you later in the week, and give you a 'one day' deal price.
