Hi

I have driven to work this morning, no problems and no warnings then come to go out for lunch and ive got hardly any power steering ability.

I have checked the belts (which are only about 18 months old) on the pump and they are all fine, the fluid is at the correct level in the tank and I can hear the pump working as it normally would. If I leave the car to sit for a little bit and restart I get normal power steering for a couple of seconds then it goes really heavy, I have connected my faultmate to the car and there are no errors showing but the only thing I did notice was the servotronic PWM value remained at 0% constantly.

Could the valve be causing this, anyone else had a similar thing before I order parts?

i had the servotronic valve go on my td6 Matt and the symptoms were as you describe..

i'm surprised a 2012 FF has this problem though.. ... - .- -.

^^ I'd look at that pesky servotronic valve thingy, or cancel your gym membership as you is going to get a free workout ffrr styley  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Stan, Matt face lifted his early model 4.4 V8 Petrol car to 2012 spec so his is an early model NOT a 2012 as per his details...

I would check the wiring to the valve first Matt, as the loom can often break down. If not, change the valve Matt as its obviously sticking in its “fast road” state! Meaning your car with 0% showing will be at near 0% PAS...

I have a valve still for sale

Dam only just seen this, have ordered one from Dan

Did some more testing this afternoon before ordering the servo valve, I monitored the servotronic PWM % on my faultmate to see if I could see anything and with the engine off I got various readings and when I started the engine I got various reading however after about 5 seconds the value dropped to 0% coninusilly so I'm hoping this indicates is faulty. I also removed the drivers front wheel and checked the valve wiring for damage and all looked good in fact the connector looked in brand new condition.

Bu66er , think I'm way cheaper than Dan ! Hope it fixes the problem.

Just replaced the BCM for a brand new one and the heavy steering issue has gone, everything is working perfectly and the steering feels better than ever!

So was it the valve as well, or just the on set of dementia in the BCM? Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

My issue was just with the BCM being faulty, the valve that I removed was in perfect working order. I have kept the new valve on as the old one was 12 years old.
