unless you have a halogen in one fog and one of these cobs in the other it would be difficult to judge that one pieter...when i have time i'll disconnect my drls and switch the cobs on separately and see..

@david, thanks for that info.. Wink ... - .- -.

New separate 5pin relay required located in engine bay connected to drl's as follows:-...

very nice write-up. I was hoping I wouldn't have to splice....but figured it was probably required. :/

Hmm with the electronic gremlins these are known for I don't know if I want to stir the pot. 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

I don't think you need to worry. Splicing into the headlight cable, which ever you chose, only means you are adding a very small inductance circuit ( relay coil ) in parallel with a very high inductance circuit ( headlight ) which in practical terms means next to nothing. I can't see why it should upset anything, certainly didn't on mine and no-one else who has done it has reported a problem.

This thread has spurred me into ordering the bits to convert my headlights by adding 2 led halos as DRL's , and change my side light bulbs to LED's .

I had a go last night at splitting a spare headlight I have and it went well , just got to wait for the bits coming from China.

ordered 2 120mm halo rings, 2 130mm halo rings , pair of sidelight leds (13 leds in each)

and a DRL gizmo relay/loom that allows dimming lights etc

just got to see how much of it actually works on arrival Laughing Laughing

Hi,

I just tried installing these foglights. After a little wobbling I managed to install the new LED fogs in the old Fog light frame. I found the rubbers of the old fog lights made a tight fit, instead of the isolation tape Stan used. (will post photo's later).

I now face the following problem(s).

Both the center LED light and the Angel eye flicker (engine on and off)....
Even when I turn of the lights the center LED light and the angel eye flashes once every 20 seconds or so...
Did you also had this problem Stan? How did you fix it? Probably something to do with a resistor? Who can help me?? 2002 L322 V8

the flickering could be down to the hot & cold bulb monitoring that the FF has...i've switched mine off with my iidtool..

didnt think of using the old rubbers, good idea there Thumbs Up ... - .- -.

Stan, unless you turn off the H & C monitoring they will always have issues, even through a DRL relay Bow down Thumbs Up

Stan, for testing purposes I wired them into the old fog light connector.
On the right hand the center fog and on the left hand the angel eye. Both flicker when the foglights are switched on.

So Craig, are you saying that I will continue to have issues even if I use a resistor?
Sorry if I ask stupid questions but I'm an electro-newbie. 2002 L322 V8

Pieter, without the car in front of me i couldn’t tell you 100% but yes i would expect you will still have issues even using resistors sir... Thumbs Up

Ok... Any way of turning H&C monitoring off without having an IIDtool? 2002 L322 V8

Would it not be possible to feed the offending flickering lights through relays using the existing fog light wiring to switch the relays and feeding the LEDs by way of a separate fused circuit direct from the battery?
You wouldn' need a IID tool then.
