United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black

Pete, if you run a lift permenantly, did you allow the rubbers in the suspension to re align by slackening the suspension bolts off. if not you could be in for a new set of arms prematurely. Thumbs Up

That set up looks beautiful

but after speaking with my brother in law who is a MOT Tester, it would be a MOT fail if the tyres protrude the arches.

Assuming it's the Haylands pictures you like, 255/55R19 would have been a standard size on a 2004 car and would not protrude beyond the wheel arches. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Im running 33x12.5R20 with 30+ BMW offset rims,
the lift i made myself using some small alloy angle and a few small bolts...cost about $20 and I can change/remove the height whenever I want to pull it back. In the process i also extended the radius of the sensor allowing for more "physical" wheel travel for the same "digital" height. simple.

the only issue is the offset, slightly less, 35+ or 40+ would be ideal. the rear just catches on the wheel arch at full flex (i really mean full flex) some slight inner guard catching on the front was to be expected and dealt with using a heat gun.

Not wanting to rain on your fun, but, when I went on to 33"'s on my Jeep, it didn't half knock the performance for 6 (and it's a high power 4.0 lt). So much that I am now thinking about a higher diff ratio, which is fine for a Jeep as you can get just about every ratio you can think of and then some. But as far as I'm aware there are no alternative ratios for the ffrr, in fact as far as I know you can't even get lockers Big Cry
So while reducing the performance of a fiery V8 a bit it's not the end of the world. But a BMW tractor might struggle a bit too much. It will also load the propshaft more and the gearboxes, which I would be weary of, as the gearbox is just about maxed out on the TD6. Ps, the V8 doesn't suffer the GM5L40e box it has a way stronger ZF unit.
I would think long and hard about this mod, my Jeep is around the same engine power as the TD6, but it's a ton lighter, and going to 33"'s really knocked the performance. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

the td6 is an incredibly torquey motor, little difference in performance. only a bit on the fuel economy.
The lockers just are not needed in the rangie as the traction control is superb, i do an extensive amount of time offroad and cannot fault it.
I still believe and engine tune and the gearbox "ecotune" is necessary to bring the fuel economy back down.

Hmmm, engine tune, ecotuned gearbox, I'd like to know how you get on with them...........

And it';s all well and good saying "I don't need lockers, I have traction control Mr. Green ", well I Censored DON'T Censored Censored Banging Head
I can see you now, sitting smug in your positively new ffrr looking down on us poor Censored who can only afford the BMW early version, I have hill decent (when it works, which is normally the 9th Sunday of the month) and low range, that's it, no whistles or bells and no traction control Evil or Very Mad

Still there are a few up sides, I can add an Ipod to the stereo for under a ton, and my seats are more comfy, just as well if your sat around, stuck in mud Wink

Ps, gotta say I like your spare wheel, is it a swing away? Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Well I haven't got hill decent control for starters, the bong of death and the screen of doom tell me every now and then......... you know, those days when it can find anything wrong, so mine thinks I'll tell him about the HDC, but only for a nano second, just to get him worrying Wink

And knowing the way that my ecu's talk to each other I bet that wont be the first thing to crop up at the worst moment Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

...mine is the poor mans bmw version...just the last one
The traction control needs the car to be driven differently to most cars when you start to experience wheel slip. lightly continue accelerating constantly and the tc should do the work for you, most people back off when a wheel spins because they think thats all she has got.

I do envy you Ipod connectivity tho, camping for 2 weeks and the 6 CD's i have in there become very repetitive.

The tyre is swing away as well as drop down so I can access the top boot without having to fully swing the door open, extremely handy in tight parks etc. and yes, it took a while to make haha

Pete, I got bigger worries than taking the transfer box out and stripping it! Plus I have found this handy feature, you can lock it in low first gear Shocked works for me, on the fields that I travel on. Mind you I'd probably rethink that if I tried to copy you Bow down

chaybra, how did you survive?? 2 weeks with the same 6 cd's, I bet by the end, your camping trip was like something from Deliverance Shocked
When I discovered that my 70k cd player didn't do mp3's, I got the right hump and ditched it Thumbs Up
But do not dispare, if you truely have a BMW ffrr with the non touch screen there are dozens of cd emulators out there that you can plug your ipod in to, and some even give your steering wheel control too Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
