Stumbled across this by accident the other day. The L405 has a much higher threshold for engaging and maintaining Off Road Height. It can be enabled at speeds below 50mph and will not return back to Normal Height until about 53-54mph. This is much higher than the L322 which was something like 25mph.

Any ideas why such a high threshold? Can't see why you'd want to drive in this height at that speed.

The 322 is 35mph and is a bit of a pain if you are green laning... driving between lanes and it swaps back to standard height.... 50+ would be much better.... Pete

The l405 would have a higher threshold for high speed dirt roads with ruts and undulations so you do not find out the hard way by dragging the front through an undulation or hitting the bottom of the car in normal road height. It works well in Australia where we have rutted corrugated dirt roads.

On L405, a warning (audible and visual) activates at 30 mph. How or why would this be ignored other than in an extreme situation.

On UK roads this (50+ mph) would be unwise.

The warning comes on around 53mph in the TDV6 I'm driving at the moment. It lowers to Normal Height at this speed.

The L405 and L494 has 2 off-road heights 35 mm and 65 mm, not specifically selectable but dependent on speed.

I produce plug-in kits that allow raised or lowered height changes on the move for the original TR (V1) systems in D3/D4/RRS to MY13 and RR MY07-MY12. I'm now also likely to produce plug-in kits for the L405/L494 (TR V2), having proved a version that works on these vehicles and with sample pre-production bespoke mating connectors on their way to me. These kits are quite popular in Australia and South Africa for extra clearance on outback gravel roads at speeds greater than allowed in off-road mode, typically at 70-100 kph raised 30-50 mm above normal height, but able to return to normal height when conditions allow.

I will recheck speed/height warnings on 405 and 322.

I often use the off-road height on motorways when in controlled traffic e.g. the M60 currently has a massive 50mph stretch and I want a clearer view of the traffic ahead . The L405 seating position for me is noticeably lower than the L322 - the car is around 2inches lower in normal height mode than the L322 if I remember and so the off-road option gets me roughly back to where I was. Steve
