Is there a way to get new style 2010+ Key to work with 2007

I have an 07 TDV8 and I guess it is an early one since it came with this key:

Ugly as hell.

Would newer style keys work somehow? The 2010+ looks great!

I'd be interested in a flip key but I thought they didn't work on a 2007, only the older models Confused I've tried checking Daveo's thread again but can't see anything new, maybe I've missed something.

Hi Sql, I have the same issue. Unfortunately the upgrade to flip keys only works on pre-'07 cars. Had it confirmed from several sources including an auto locksmith. Looks like we have to put up with these things...unless I've missed something. Life is what happens while youre making other plans.

When converting an early key ( 2003 ) to a flip style one, does the cut key from the first one fit in the flip one or is it only the electronics that are transferable ?

EDIT: OK, so I can change to a 2007-2009 flip key. Thanks!

So even if later 2007 cars came with flip style key, I cannot get this style to work when my car came with classic non-flip one? Shocked

My 07 VSE came with 2 flip keys. TBH I've never seen one of those pictured above on a car where the ignition was on the dash, i.e. a full facelift 07MY version rather than the "in-Betweenies" which were facelifted outside but retained the older interior where the key was down by the gear lever.
