A TDV8 for that sort of money is bound to be a high-miler. LR don't seem to think the gearbox needs servicing but many on here, and the gearbox manufacturers themselves, disagree.

Was it not the td6 that mostly had gearbox problems? Yeh I'm expecting 100-130k miles on it roughly, used to high mileage cars. |

I believe the TD6 'box was actually made from spreadable margarine - whereas the TDV8 'box (same as Disco 3) was uprated to the level of original butter

X5 box is sealed for life like all modern BMWs. 5 speed GM auto more prone to failure than later 6 speed auto |

The td6 box was (is) woefully poor, the poorest point of the whole package unfortunately.
