Rear Amber indicators to clear?

Just saw a post on the Land Rover owners forum on Facebook about changing the rear light clusters to the 2005 spec with clear indicators and someone replied that it's cheaper to just remove the amber lens from the old style cluster. He didn't say how though.

Anyone aware of this mod? 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

I was thinking along the same lines - it may be cheaper, but it certainly wouldn't be easy - you'd need heat to take the unit apart - the amber lens is probably not easy to remove - the clear lens wouldn't be available as a separate part, so you\'d need to fabricate something......

I know if I tried it, it would work out more expensive - as I would give up and by clear units after having ruined a perfectly good amber unit Whistle

Oh this is a real old trade secret...

Remove the light, take off the bulb holder, take out the silver indicator bulb holder, remove the brake light LED pack. Then you should see all the way down into the light. Tap the inside of the amber reflector/light cover with a screwdriver handle GENTLY!!! and it will shatter (like an egg shell) take the bits out and VOILA... Rebuild using an orange ind bulb instead of the clear one Thumbs Up

before you break some eggs, remember that those clear/orange bulbs are about £13 each..
they look a bit blue/green when off, so consider that before you have them naked in the light assembly, ie with no lens.
