Can't say I've used my flappy paddles at all since I've had my FF , I think I used them once when I picked it up!

My car doesn't have paddles, I sometimes use command shift or sport mode but like all SCs the car gets down the road quickly enough anyway and its not really designed to be driven like a sports car, it certainly doesn't handle like one  Geoff

I retro fitted some for my v8, as I have towed with another car, (a diesel) and found it annoying that you can either not 'lock-up', to cruise, or you have to kickdown to get a little 'passing speed' up, and then you are flying through, so if towing, they are useful, for those reasons, ie holding a gear longer whilst you go up an incline.
and would be useful descending a winding hill etc.
Lewis Hamilton racing starts are fine on straight roads, but not to be tried approaching/leaving roundabouts.

Used to use the manual setting on the 3.6, but that was handy for towing as it would then hold the gear for as long as it was selected or you speed dropped so low as to need the next gear down.

I have not towed with the 4.4 yet, but have played with the flappy bits a few times. It does switch back to d on its own, which when towing might be annoying! I wonder whether it will lock in to gear when the electrics are connected? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

only used them a few times and purely for the hell of it. Nice toy to have if you feel like a change. It does change up when needed in any case so only ever really a semi manual. Changing back to D seems to be dependant on driving loads rather than just a standard time lapse.

If they dropped off tomorrow I wouldn't really miss them but nice. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Im not 100% sure but i think if you use “S” mode then the paddles they stay engaged until you re-select “D”...

I as above have only ever used the paddles for towing, which is very handy

Ive never used them - even for towing - i've not found the TDV8 to be lacking

On the L405 theres an option to disable them for D and have them only work in S - ive gone with that to stop me accidentally catching one.

On the L405 they can be forced back to D. Pull and hold the right paddle.

I only normally use them off-road going downhill. I occasionally use them on road but once in a blue moon.

I have paddles on my Aston and use those 100pct of the time. The paddles don't suit the rangie but do suit the Aston

Yes, use mine all the time. The S/C engine can be a bit revvy when rowing it along so rather than let it rev higher I force the up change and use the torque.

Operationally they work as follows.
In 'D'. Use paddles and it reverts to D after 30 seconds of normal driving. If you're using the paddles to shift down for engine braking it waits until you accelerate and up change before starting the 30 second countdown.
In 'S'. Same as above except it never reverts to the S position unless you force it to.

Pulling and holding the right paddle for 30 seconds forces a reversion to D or S depending on what's selected on the knob or lever.

Used mine once to check they were working and never found a need for them even when towing.

Have occasionally hit one by accident.

Interesting that you use the Aston paddles, given its the same 6 speed auto transmission as the L322. Albeit in the rear of the Aston

does the holding the + paddle work on the 322 too?

i just switch to sport and back to D if i want to cancel the paddles. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
