Should I pull the trigger?

Hi All,

Am shopping for a Range (hence lurking here... a lot!) have more or less decided that an 05 model is probably the way to go given my funds at this time and it being my first time owning one of these cars...

have put a refundable deposit on the attached... hopefully going to view sat/ sun

http://www.asmperformance.co.uk/used/land-...e/16202124

Just wanted to get peoples thoughts really? Looks like a fair price. Seems to have history guy said good condition but some stone chips to front bumper, 3 owners MOT due May next year, no advisories.

Will take the wiki list with me when i go and view. Does this look like a fair price?

Cheers
Robbo

Looks nice, clean and straight but photos can be deceiving...

Only negative I can see is the hammer on wheel weights, tend to damage the alloys and are totally unnecessary these days... And condensation inside the off side rear light... very difficult to sort, really needs a new light...

Make sure you open the rear doors and look for rust around the wheel arch and down towards the sill covers and both upper and lower tailgates...

Then press every button and make sure it works.... incl low box and HDC....

Good luck, don't let your heart rule your head, there are plenty out there for sale..... Pete

Hammer on weights are the wheel balancing weights you can see on the wheel, they have a steel fixing and a zinc weight, the steel and alloy wheel set up electrolysis and can rot out a hole in the wheel, they also damage the paint on removal...

The Range Rover has a 2 speed transfer box, low range is for offroading, if it's not used regularly then it can get upset and refuse to work, this can cause other problems and cost a lot of money to fix, even if you don't want to use the low box you should put it in and out every few weeks to keep things working well.... Pete

Looks really good and not a great deal of money either.
As said, make sure everything works. Put the suspension up and down a few times and check the bags for signs of cracking when fully extended. It would be worth checking if they have indeed been changed at any point.

Make sure steering wheel goes up and down and in and out. Can be expensive to fix.

The TV prob won't work as I think it's still an analogue tuner. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Nice looking car.
Think the condensation may be the reflection of merc headlight parked near it.
As Pete said check the topix & good luck with the search. Thumbs Up

looks like a nice one. But its difficult to tell from pics.

There appears to be a crack in the heated seat button, check it will work OK. there is a buying guide in the wiki with loads of things to check out. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Have a look at the area to the rear of the engine, ideally from underneath as well as from above, for blue/green residues of coolant which can be blown out due to cylinder head problems. That was what did for my 2004 car's engine, even though it sounded and ran fine. Only Range Rovers since 1988

What year is the car ? - if it has "6A" in the VIN, it's an '06 model year. Definitely the petrol engine to go for as it is the Jaguar (not BMW) 4.4 V8 with 6 speed ZF gearbox. The post above does not refer to this engine which is very highly regarded.
I owned one for 18mths with the only not maintenance issues being a replacement radiator & MAF sensor. Surprisingly good on fuel with proper performance, too.
Yes, read the buyer's guide but don't get too hung up on it as if you went through all the detail and you're of sound mind you wouldn't buy one anyway !
Looks like a well priced car to me - if it has been properly maintained, it should be excellent -

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?
