Holding up better than I expected given how many are around. Most of the cheapest cars were LR-registered given that customer deliveries only got going in 2013. |

Like most models, wait until the first batch of 3 year old, out of warranty lease cars come on the market. More supply will mean a gentle softening in price. |

I offered mine in px yesterday, 2013 4.4 SDV8 Vogue SE in black, done 50k but on the m/way as a chauffeur car (for the Warburton family - the bread people) in pristine condition with lost of extras, offered £48k saying that's the going rate at the auctions.

Plenty of evidence on here that based on average mileage a FFRR will be worth circa 40% of the models base price (ignoring options) after 3 years. If you assume this then there won't be much of a surprise at resale. MY23 D350 HSE

Have to disagree there Phil. The two examples on this thread are a high miler (whose condition we don't know) and an insurance write-off , so not good prices to base any depreciation calculations on and I'm guessing Carlos was basically given a ridiculous px offer (looking at Pistonheads for example, there is a 49k miles 2013 Vogue SE for sale at Stratstone for @£64k so can't believe they are making £16k over their trade-in price) . You're suggesting that a car worth base price £80k new for example, would trade-in at £32 three years later, I haven't seen any evidence in second hand prices to show this would be the case for the L405? (as late 2012 L322s are still going for £34k-£48k at the moment). I know as more and more L405s are build it will eventually start to make the 2nd hand prices more realistic (which is what I was waiting for but gave up in the end and bought one as prices weren't really moving) but the L405 and Sport seem to be retaining their price simply because the demand is so great so not sure why this demand would suddenly drop off in the next 7-8 months reducing the dealers to start selling 3yr old cars at say £40k (making a tidy 8k profit). Only my opinion of course and I'll probably end up being proved wrong and lose £38k on a car in 18 months now Steve

Would expect 50% or more at three years (£40k offered by the dealer at three years on a £70k L322). |

I know the word finance seems to upset certain folk in here...but... The Guaranteed Future Value on a 4 year old 3.0 Vogue with 30k on the clock is around £35k, so about 45% of new standard vehicle list price. These future value are supposed to be slightly pessimistic in order that punters have a bit of equity at the end of the deal. |

Hi Phil, yes, that's the problem, it seems the L405 can't be compared to the L322 . I got my L322 Vogue Se at 14months old and saved £25k on the new price -£69k - fantastic saving on new, but the L405 I bought at 16 months old had dropped only £16k (I know it was a more expensive car in the first place) so was 81% of its original price. Had a look at the link you provided and the residual prices seems to be based on a 2010 10 plate car, so that would make it 4.5 - 5yrs old, so the 37% for the V SE after this period doesn't seem too bad. I'm sure the saturation point will be reached whereby demand doesn't compete so closely with supply and the prices start to drop , but hope it doesn't occur anytime soon Steve

Steve, LR have managed the supply of the L495 for the first 3 years of its production to minimise depreciation. We are now seeing changes. The lead time for a new L405 is reducing, discounts are appearing (LR has a £5k offer on MY15 cars now) and second hand supply is increasing. All of which suggests the rate of depreciation will increase beyond that of the past 3 years and on a percentage basis move towards that of the L322. MY23 D350 HSE
