L322 drivers seat base removal - instructions required.

I'm thinking of replacing the seat cover on my drivers seat base with the genuine LR leather covers available on eBay.

Before I purchase I thought I had better find the instructions on how to replace seat cover. I found some in the net late last year and now can't find them anywhere. It's not listed in Rave which was my first port of call.

Anyone done this before or know what's involved in simply swapping over the leather seat base?

I guess my main question is do I need to split the seat to replace?

Have you thought about using a trimmer to do the repair. He may be able to save your existing seat base and repair it for less than the cost of the new cover. There are plenty about tucked in little industrial sheds in most towns! Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I partially removed the base cover while tracing a seat heating problem.
No you don't need to split the base.
It's pretty standard in the way it's fitted. Once you take the seat out and the back off (two screws underneath each side then pulls upwards) it's self explanatory.
The rear is pulled through and around underneath and clipped to a cross bar so start there. The other sides are attached with hog rings and there is a leather tab near the centre to pull the seat down that is also hog ringed to the frame. If you don't have any it might be worth investing in some hog ring pliers to put the new ones on.

Make sure you get the right seat covers. Pre-facelift vehicles have the seat heaters stitched into the covers, they aren't available separately. Facelift cars have separate heater pads.

The existing one isn't that bad really, it's just I came across the base cover for £50 and was thinking it would be nice to have new leather.

Excellent! Thanks. Will report back if it goes ahead.

Unfortunately the place on ebay sold the 2 seat covers the very next day.
