If he can do the same thing to TG that he did with TFI Friday, then it will be great.

Gathered he would be, along with Jason Plaito is my guess Whistle

Like JP but Chris Evans can be a bit arrogant for my liking Neutral

Is he doing the show by himself?

There is no mention of other presenters.

I like Plato, did anyone else see him on TFI last week, him and Evans would be a good combo I think, I do wonder who the other 2 are though. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Evans is more than a trifle irritating, especially on Radio 2. Moving along nicely and then he has one of his shouty moments meaning constant adjusting of the volume. Much the same on TFI Friday so no reason to suspect TG will be any different.

Would have preferred Philip Glenister TBH, in fact I think John Prescott would have been less obnoxious than Evans.

There's so much ridiculousness on social media right now - people saying that TG is dead to them without Clarkson etc. Get a life! It's just a TV show, they'll go on to do something of their own, probably just the specials and trips they always did, and we shall have a revamped Top Gear run by someone who is mad passionate about cars and has a garage full of Fezzas and weird stuff to prove it.

Phillip Glenister is a great actor, but so dry and laconic, too sarcastic for a presenting role IMHO, Evans has the cash to do crazy stuff out of his own pocket too and probably will. He's the Golden Child, the Man with the Midas Touch, so the Beed will be more likely to let him do what he wants and make TG different and special again.

i really hope that they dont 'do' the same format as the modern top gear. yes, do a show, like the old style, or the 5th gear type thing, just not those silly expensive challenges, with 'the last of summer wine' bumpties gently wrecking the 'cars'

i hoped they would use Guy Martin, as a sort of mechanic, madman do anything, for speed thrill etc. but he is difficult to understand with such a broad accent, (to the outside world)

has anyone ever watched the youtube inventor-come-shed-creations guy 'colin furze' he should have a show all of his own! what a nutter! but again, not really BBC material. especially the flapping tie and no race suit....

i hope he does apply though..

only ever watched TG when there was something of particular interest on there, but then you had to put up with people "acting" like prats on the telly and being paid large amounts of money for doing just that. Even James May , who I have time for, did it. Won't be bothering at all now , remarks about arrogance in previous posts don't really cover it. when it comes to TV like this, the off switch is your friend.

Evans is a Marmite character. However people will watch to see how it goes I still think Clarkson engineered his own exit.
The BBC have a history of flogging programs to death so will want more of the same. As said it's not a car show as they can be a bit boring to the none enthusiasts thats why 5th gear etc never have big viweing figures, it's car based entertainment.
if the BBC try more of the same the response will be it's not as good.
If Clarkson Hammond and May try the same it's not going to be Top Gear.
I think we will end up with two similar car based shows neither as good as Top gear was a couple of years ago.
The more recent offerings have been a bit poor IMHO. Mine was a blue one! Smile
