I don't think there are any differences in brakes (only 3.0 seems to have smaller front discs) or suspension. In theory the SC is slightly lighter than the SDV8 but that can be all about options and trim. On the road differences seem small, maybe sc turns in a bit better, and that the sc squats down more under hard acceleration, no surprises there really as both have active dynamics.

Assume the anti-roll, damping etc. calibration will be different due to the lighter engine. As Nick says, you would expect it to be a little lighter on its feet because of that (similar to TDV6/SDV8 differences). |

I am a petrolhead too and am pretty sensitive to handling I can feel the difference in damping setting, tyre pressures etc on my MX5 track day car). There is a big difference from 3.0 to 4.4 emphasised by the active suspension fitment on bigger engine. The handling differences are very much smaller between 4.4 and 5.0 (I have driven 45k miles in 4.4SDV8's). I've only had my 5.0 for 2500 miles and it takes a little while to get past the really noticeable differences such as initial impressions of less torque and busy gearbox, the OMG when you stab at pedal expecting turbo lag, NVH and increased familiarity with petrol retailers. To really quantify a difference you would need to back to back drive the same corners, or just maybe ask someone with the full diagnostic kit to see if there is a separate dynamics setting for the SC.

Yes, I probably didn't phrase that very well - any differences due engine weight are no doubt far less obvious when both have active anti-roll. |

Thank you both, Im considering a tune to reduce turbo lag and give it some more oomph, that may well be the best of both worlds then?

No remap is going to reduce turbo lag though. |

Its been suggested that it can be tuned out somewhat. Not removed but improved, don't you agree? |

It cab definitely help - on my 3.6 there was a low end flat spot that a BAS remap smoothed out and made it much smoother (and quicker) off roundabouts.

I think you'll maybe find the front end suspension setup is the same between them but the firmware for the active suspension is different to account for the weight difference but also more likely to account for expected driving styles of the vehicles as the sc is more likely to be seen by purchasers and owners.... My old 3.6 was mapped by BAS too and the lag had almost been eliminated... |

Thanks for all the comments, I came out of a 2011 Cayenne Turbo so can feel the lack of low down pull. When the SDV8 gets into its stride in manual mode it pulls well and I wonder if the extra 100 Nm of torque and reduced lag might help get the best of both worlds - a much nicer car to drive overall and sit in but with a performance not a million miles away from the Porsche in Norma driving mode (not sport which was just insane).
