squeak from rear o/s very annoying

Bit of an odd one here, have squeak that seems to come from the rear o/s. First use of the car each day no noise until about 500 yards then the squeak comes. At that point i can make the squeak happen by giving a tug on the wheel left or right, trying to put it in words is phonetically something like it-her,it-her, road surface makes a big change as bumpy tarmac makes louder squeaks but even pulling into a driveway will give more of an ee-haw.

Had a look under the rear and noticed that the large maybe rear end subframe bush on the n/s was new and the o/s looked old? It was blue on the n/s.

Also the car drives fine at the moment, just squeaks, my local garage don't want to even look at it as they are terrified of RR so will book it into local RR MD if no one has any ideas.

cheers marky Thumbs Up

If you have a blue coloured bush, then it sounds like a Poly one, they transmit more noise/vibration than rubber, but they last a lot longer - one of the other draw backs is they can squeak unless they're greased when fitted. Spray a bit if silicone lubricant (or WD40) on it and see if that stops the noise. If it doesn't, try spraying other possible sources of the noise one at a time. When it all goes quiet you'll have isolated which part the noise is coming from, the effect might only last a few days, but at least you know which part to replace.

1cheers zicon, yes i first thought poly as well, the squeak seems to be coming from the other side though. I have squirted all moving joints and components with WD over the last week on the n/s with no effect Sad

I have the same issue and the old WD40 has been out and the squeak is still there! If I find the source I'll let you know!

regards

John

Usually a dry ball joint Rolling Eyes When you think you have worked out which one it is, prick it with a braddle and spray with WD40 can with a straw attachment. Thumbs Up
