I can't think of any reason why you couldn't disconnect the battery -ve terminal and re-connect on your return.

The alternative to disconnecting the battery is to leave it connected as normal and buy a smaller battery to sit in the boot which together with a set of jump leads would allow you to start the car should the worst happen.

I remember taking the kids to see some of the last Concord take offs at Heathrow, the thunderous roar from those engines with blue flame afterburners used to shake the fillings in my teeth, it was absolutely awesome! But laughed at the orchestra of car alarms all chirping from the (parallel to runway) car parks. There were three take offs a day I think. But I bet there is an on hand man with sack truck battery on leads, making a quick buck even today. |

Spare battery or a booster pack has to be a better option - even just a set of jump leads - there will always be someone who will stop if you're standing in a car park with jump leads in your hand.

If you're leaving it at one of the decent airport car parking sites they'll be well used to flat batteries and be able to jump it for you should you need it. |
