* TV is likely to be because of the digital switch over yes, unless someone has replaced the TV module with a later one it wont be digital - can be done by using a Digital hybrid module from a later BMW.

Depends how the PS2 was wired in - and that's an old one - it was much easier with the slim model & external power supply.

The ps2 could use the aux channel on the TV unit and feed into the bm54 for sound. Have you gone into the TV setting and looked for aux on the channel list ?

Yes - the PS2 There isn't a factory fit Aux in, but there are ways of connecting one in so that it is automatically detected & appears on the head unit. The simplest way is to buy a cable like this that plugs between 2 units in the boot. Some of these connectors also come with a reverse camera input, some don't. So, you might get lucky. However, the person who fitted the PS2 might have had more technical knowledge and spliced it straight into the wiring loom. Follow the video output cable of the PS2 & see where it goes - and whether there are any other RCA plugs floating about wherever it connects to |

It does have screens in the rear headrests. Traced the wiring from the ps2 slightly, (ignoring the power) the video/audio cable out the back of the ps3 splits into 3. 2 seem to run up the D pillar and one runs under the wheel arch trim area, lost it as it went under the seats. |

Ah - that was the perhaps obvious bit I was missing In order to wire in a reverse camera, you'll need something like the cable I linked to above. It will come with instructions - it has a plug one one end and a socket on the other - you remove one of the TV cables in the boot & plug it there. You will also need an NTSC reversing camera - not PAL - there are plenty on eBay. Finally a relay to your reversing light - the way the lead works is whenever there is a camera signal to it, it displays on the monitor, over-riding the current picture - so you only want it powered up when you're reversing. When I did mine - many years ago - I had a tow bar - so i tapped into the reverse connection for that as it was easier to get to. I also chose to mount my camera down there as it was easy & required no drilling - I used the tow bar wiring hole to feed the cable. Other options are to mount the camera up high under the roof spoiler or drill a hole somewhere - some people have mounted them in the reversing light itself. All depends how competent / brave you are |

See my post on Carpc, lots of stuff early on about a retro fit PSOne, similar to your PS2 setup probably, might help you identify the wiring...

if you have the receiver in the boot you can add a fob to it.

It's got a tow ball, seems a professional job, except for the wiring I mentioned in my first post. |

Agree the wiring for the tow bar looks a bit of Hotch potch. That is definitely a generic towing relay, and is probably the source of your problems. I would be getting a car specific wiring kit from of jones and starting again. It's not a hard job to do and shouldn't be too pricey. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
