Thought I'd post a mini review of the new SSRR. I've had one for a few days as a loaner and I quite like it. It's way better than the old one anyway. I know it's not a Full-Fat but it has quite opened my eyes.

Most impressive is the ride, I was really surprised TBH. Good quality without being harsh but somehow it manages to handle and drive like a 5 Series or an XF.

The 3.0 TDV6 is quite lively although the usual turbo lag when pulling away is still very much there. 40+ mpg on mixed driving is very respectable too. Can't imagine how bad the old 2.2 TD4 is in this though, it's rubbish in the smaller cars and very agricultural. I can't imagine right thinking person buying one of these with the TD4 engine. Also available are 4.4 TDV8 and the 5.0 'Charger which sounds sublime. I watched one go out after service the other day and it was awesome to watch and hear.

Steering is perfect IMO, nicely balanced between being too direct and a bit sloppy. You know exactly what's going on from the feedback through the wheel too. Basically it goes where you point it with no fuss or drama and it doesn't roll around like a barge on the high sea.

Deployable steps remain as pointless and irritating as ever unless you really are a Pygmy, and the dash layout is especially poor as well. It looks like someone loaded a handful of buttons into a catapult and fired them into the car. All over the place, nothing's easy to find and generally ill thought out. The lack of an analogue clock is poor on a car of this value and prestige. Oh and that logic gear selector thing takes some getting used to. I think I prefer the dial if I'm honest.

Seats are comfortable and supportive and the panoramic roof makes the cabin light and airy. Generally a very civilised way to travel, quiet and refined. Not a FFRR but then it's not meant to be. Much more car-like than FFRR but a damn good car nonetheless. A country mile ahead of Evoque and all the nastiness that goes with that thing. Definitely worth a drive if you get the chance. You may, like me, be rather surprised.

No four-cylinders in the RR Sport (until the Ingenium engines, supposedly).

I also like the new Sport, a great car inside and drives beautifully with a perky V6D.

If it were not for the price, I'd consider one. Discovery 4 HSE

Nice cars,my son has one. Not a FFRR but a very good car indeed  If you have nothing nice to say,say nothing at all.

I think it's a great drive on road and is pretty awesome off-road. I was invited to the launch and drove 3 different models.
I thought the supercharged was utterly pointless as I would never drive a Range Rover that fast. The Diesel engine was more than adequate for the sport. I think it's overpriced. Previously..

Overpriced I'd agree with. But the S/C engine doesn't have to be driven fast. I don't drive my L322 5.0 particularly fast but I much prefer the engine over the log burner. Personal taste I guess. I'd choose the 'Charger though but I do wonder if the Jag 3.0 6 cylinder S/C petrol will make an appearance in the RR line up at some point...? It would make sense to me with petrol responsiveness but rather more sensible fuel economy.

Supercharged V6 is already in them (just not over here).

I was very close to buying one when I bought the L405 - I hated the old Sport, but the new one is really quite nice.

Next change could well be for a Sport - just needed the extra boot space at the moment.

Yes, SSRR with 6cyl Jag petrol available here. I was surprised as they "always" seem to be V8s.

Mind you, something I discovered last night is the seat armrests make it impossible to either fasten or release the seat belt. I guess it's a function of the interior size of the car but once I lifted the armrest up out of the way the centre console was a much more comfortable place anyway. Not sure why LR bothered with the armrests really.
