Any help? Sounds like it could be the dead lock and if it deosn't let go it looks like you need to destroy the door card to get it out.

If your door is jammed in superlock, you have exactly one chance to get at it:

open the rear door behind the affected door,
prise out the rubber bung pictured below from the rear face of the front door.

you will find an "allen key bolt" inside which should move downwards
if you pull the door handle (outside one)
(it looks like an allen key bolt but in fact its part of the locks mechanism)

while pulling the outer door handle help the allen key move down with the
help of a 2mm dia long screwdriver/piece of wire
which ideally should have a 90ish degree bent at 10mm from its end.

the next picture shows the "allen key" piece of the door lock which
you need to move down.

Good luck and thanks to DelSilencio-Uli for providing us with the pictures... Thumbs Up

Great post - just had a look on mine, it will be hard to get at with the rear door in place but certainly possible with patience!

yes, that should open the lock.
At least it did on all occasions I know of.
You will feel a resistance, then the lock opens the door.
You can't push it too far - at least not without brute force.

I've finally done it ,, the way you described only opens the door if the outside handle cable is broke , the way to open the lock when it's locked is to go in from the top , pull the door card away at the top far as you can , window up or down makes no difference , remove air bag , pull away inner foam protection stuff , get a screw driver and hammer , knock through the plastic on the top of the lock , it exposes the lever which you need to push down to unlock the car , you then can only open the door from inside ,,
Thanks for all your help and advise lads , very handy too know fellow Range Rover owners help each other , thanks again ,, untill the next problem, lol

I know that it's an old thread, and wiki'fied, but thought I would give my thanks to this brilliant forum for helping me out.
My drivers door lock has never been good since replacing the cable from the outer door handle.
First sign of frost and it won't open, so I turn to the wiki and look for a solution.
We have mudknight and heppsen, thank you guys.
I used heppsen's solution first, worked a treat, but only once. It appears that it only works once, so I ordered a new lock from the bay of e, s.
these appear to be lr only, this is the number I ordered.

So i set about butchering my door card, as mudknight says undo 30 torx head from behind airbag, then prize the door card back, my door was locked, so this I found was easier with the window down, then , wedge the door card open and unscrew the airbag.lift aside and make sure it is safe, I hung mine on a piece of wire. Then peel back the inner guey trim, you can then see the top of the lock.
I found window up was best as you can see more of the lock, working from inside the car I wedged the door card open with my quater drive ratchet and placed the led torch light on top.
You can see the mechanism from here, you need to look below the key lock to the plastic cover, be careful what you hit as the new lock doesn't come with the lock cover, you need to look at the new lock to place your blows.
the window trim where it slides up and down will also need to be pushed aside, it's a good idea to have long screwdrivers for this.
my old lock.

As you can see I have knocked out the top plastic cover, the gold lever is exposed, THIS IS THE MOTHER YOU NEED TO LEVER TO OPEN THE DOOR. SUCCESS YEAH Very Happy
it ain't easy but keep plugging away and you won't need to destroy the door card.
the allen key head screw, which is left handed, is to reset the lock, I found out from another forum :blub
I had reassembled the lock and everything back in place, bjt before closing the door, I decided to lock the door by moving the locking mechanism first, this is the bit that bites on the door pillar:

If you flip the lock shut , as in closing position, with the door open you can check if the lock is opening ok.
mine seemed a little stiff, as it did open but not brilliant, I flipp the locking lever again and released the allen head lefthand scew in the hole then retighten, this apparently resets the lock, I closed the door and YES !!! SUCCESS.
hope it helps.
Thanks forum and wiki.
Greg. Thumbs Up

I believe I have the same problem as outlined on this post although my car is a 2010 MY and the part number is different (I think the current part number is LR019759 not LR013378 as above)

My external door cable snapped on the front right (drivers) side. I replaced this and checked the operation, all seemed fine, that was until I superlocked it. Now I cannot open the door from inside or outside

As my lock part number is different does the procedure above of breaking the lock from the top also apply? I don't want to break it and then still not be able to open the door

I really don't understand how fitting the cable has caused a problem? Someone else above seemed to notice the issue after cable replacement

Has anyone done this on a 2010 on car? Have ordered the lock from Dan, just waiting for it to arrive

Getting in via the passenger door is annoying!

Opening a stuck lock on the passenger side door

So Today I managed to do this by not destroying the Door Card.

I tried removing the bung to use an allen key to open the door - this did not work. As far as I can tell this technique is if the lock is unlocked and the door handle is not releasing the door.

So I undid the torx in the inside door handle, put the window down & pulled out the window trim at the top of the door card and popped the clips open on the door card - this gave me enough space to get a coat hanger between the window and the door card, used a coat hanger to reach in and pop the small cover off the lock mech, and twisted the coat hanger in to hook the black plastic piece at the top to undo the lock.
This thread explains it best http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic37988-15.html
I have also made a youtube video to demonstrate that I will post when it uploads - with some poor camerawork but it should give an idea of what to look out for.

No Door card was harmed and the old lock mech was not smashed - just a small flesh wound to my hand!
