Changing L405 Grills / Fins - easy DIY job

I swapped mine over today - easy job Thumbs Up

I had Atlas & went to colour coded, but I guess just as many people will go the other way.

Mine came from Khan on eBay - I made them a cheeky offer & secured a Santorini Black set for just over 100. They fix to the car using 8 pop fasteners & 2 strips of sticky tape. As they were used, I needed to replace the adhesive tape - which is quite thick, wo ended up using 3 layers of this on both the front & back edges, so 20 worth of adhesive Shocked

Here's what the panel looks like -

and you run a strip of adhesive up the left & with edge - it's obvious when you have it in front of you.

The bottom has a slight lip that sits inside the Atlas coloured moulding on the door -

Removal was easy (though I broke a few of the pop connectors on the first one) - I used a filler knife & screwdriver wrapped in a rag, started top rear & just prised off.

The whole job took 10 minutes Thumbs Up

I had enough of the pop connector thingies from the ones I'd bought and the ones I took off the car to put the new ones on & have some spare.

I fear the new ones are better stuck than the originals, but as I don't plan to change them again any time soon, that's fine with me.

[Edited to add the part number for the clips]

Should anyone need the clips -

Marmite - there will be just as many who prefer the silver.

Colour coded is the default - Atlas costs extra - so every one that you see, someone has paid money for.......

They both look very nice, I really want to put the autobiography black gills on with color coding to the car. Just the little chrome accents down the fins I think this is a nice subtle way of showing the gill lines on the doors.
However the autobiography gills are very pricey . Around $1500 dollars.
Thankyou for sharing your how to do job info.

Looks great and thank you for the detail of how to change them, I am hoping you will know the answer to this. Just purchased Sep 14 Vogue with no Fog Lights is it possible to retro fit them. Thank you in advance Thumbs Up

I'm sure it's possible, but I have no idea how & doubt it's easy.....

For a start, does your instrument stalk in the car have a front fog light on it ?

Is it easy to change the strip along the bottom of the door?
It doesn't look right in silver?
