Current information for AUX input on a 2002

Hello !

I have a 2002 L322 with the 6+ 3 pin CD-changer and no SPDIF connection..

I´ve been reading threads and information and I still can´t understand what actually works and what requirements there are for different solutions.. GROM/ Yatour / intravee and so on...

I am ONLY interested in AUX input. so the short question is.. Can I just splice into the L/R audio from the CD-changer with a 3.5mm adapter ?

regards

There's a BMW kit that gives you everything to create an Aux In in the boot by the TV module.

I think it's this one

Once installed it gives you an Aux option on the head unit - so you can keep your existing CD changer Thumbs Up

Actually - thinking back - I think I had to replace the radio module from a BM53 to a BM54 as well - so might not be that straight forward.... Embarassed

That input is Mono only sadly..would have been a nice solution otherwise.

Looks like the 6 pin connector just contains L + R channel + GND.. should be easly to Connect to.. Might need a line driver tho.

Yep - here's where I got the info from.

The BM54 wasn't too much money from eBay though.....

I simply use one of these plugged into the redundant tape player, works really well for music although I have been described as tone deaf. Laughing

nooo !!!

Tape adapters are horrible !

I am thinking about upgrading to a Android HU.. but then I´ll loose FBH and onboard computer.. and I´m not so keen on that. Option could be to place HU in glovebox and just run the new system in paralell.

The Sony one isn't horrible, it works really well.

I´ve used them.. you get a very high amount of noise and "hum" and compressed dynamics, worse than radio in many cases.

I´m trying to hack the CD-Changer input and we´ll see where I´ll end up Smile

I use the Grom aux input adapter and it works very well. Installation was easy - it takes the place of the CD changer input. I went with the cheaper non-bluetooth version.

Does your RR have the touch screen? On their website Grom say that the interface covers 1999 to 2005. They quote their model SKU: RVRU3 as being suitable for the 2005 Range Rover. I wonder if the different market specs come into play?

Would be interested in your views.

Mine is a 2004. It has the navigation screen, although it is not a touchscreen. One must use the buttons to move through the menus instead of actually touching the screen.

Different market specs should not interfere here. The Grom adapter has the same connector as the CD changer - simply unplug your changer and plug-in the Grom. The second connector has 3 wires - power, ground, and the communication bus. All of the connections are at the rear/trunk/boot.
