door lock problem after atempting to remove handle

Thought I would attempt to change my door handles today started by removing the door card then air bag to access the back of the handle once I got to it I removed the lock from the outside and that was as far as I got. Couldnt figure how to get the handle out and decided to put it back together and just paint them on the car or get covers. So I didn't actually touch anything at the back of the handle and I just put the airbag back on then door card and the locking mechanism but now the locking button barely moves. It's like there is something blocking it . Door opens fine from both the inside and out but there is obviously something wrong with the lock

Any ideas

Had the battery disconnected the whole time Range Rover Vogue 2006 4.4 AJV8 | Buckingham Blue | Parchment Leather | Supercharged Grill+Side Vents | CA02 HEY ( NOT 02 PLATE )

i'm sure someone else had a similar problem and the craig-meister said something like put a screwdriver in the lock to click the latch down/up...

had a look at that post Stan but the door opens fine from inside and out its the locking thats the issue

i reconnected the battery and took a quick videos as you can see the lock works fine when the latch is closed but when the latch is open its jumping as if its being blocked. Its got to be something todo with the locking rod as thats the only part i removed that had anything todo with the locks.

Worth a try Shocked

DO NOT TAKE THE DOOR CARD OFF, do not touch the door card, there is no need to remove it, only remove the outer handle and lock and reset the cam to the central position.

Open the door and look at the back, there is a grommet, remove this and it gives access to a torx bolt, remove the Torx bolt and the handle comes off. The lock assembly then lifts out and you have to realign the part that's left inside the door. Just use a screwdriver to do this and reassemble.

When you look inside you will see a slot similar to the either image 1. 2. or 3.
below, the slot could be in various positions depending on how it popped

Using a straight blade screwdriver gently reposition the slot until it is like the image below

Carefully refit the handle, Torx bolt and grommet and test to ensure it is working

could someone check if your car does this when you try to lock it with the drivers door open. I'm now beginning to think it might be a safety thing so you don't lock the keys inside. Range Rover Vogue 2006 4.4 AJV8 | Buckingham Blue | Parchment Leather | Supercharged Grill+Side Vents | CA02 HEY ( NOT 02 PLATE )

Anyone ? I'm a just a bit worried about shutting and locking the car until I know if this is right or not. Range Rover Vogue 2006 4.4 AJV8 | Buckingham Blue | Parchment Leather | Supercharged Grill+Side Vents | CA02 HEY ( NOT 02 PLATE )

Just checked for you.
If I hold the drivers door open and use the fob to lock the car the drivers door lock does activate but interestingly the the locking button on the door just bounces slightly and then settles about halfway down. It certainly doesn't lock correctly.
After opening the locks with the fob I then closed the door and used to fob to lock as normal.
Never noticed this before.

I hadn't but I have now. That is exactly what mine in doing if I lock the doors with the drivers door open. As I say I then locked it with the drivers door closed and everything worked as it should. To date I've not had any trouble with the doors locking so reckon the bouncing lock button is normal for whatever reason.
