well i finally set about doing the corrosion bubbles on the mirror mounting plate, i took the mirror off the car then stripped it down so all i was left with was the mounting plate on its own. i dont now whats on the plate but after stripping the black paint off theres a rubbery surface on there. it took me 2 hours in the sand blaster to get the damn stuff off, anyhow after i got it back to the bare metal i took it up to get it powder coated satin black, cost me all of a fiver to get done. end result is perfect, got to do the same on the other side now and shes pefect again. oh i took all my outer door handles off aswel and sprayed them java black to match the car and get rid of that shabby paint that landrover put on or should i say temporarily put on. i would put pics on but im not clever enough to know how to do that |

can you remove the mirror totally from the mount or does the wiring prevent this, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

you have to remove two wires from the multi plug to get the mirror off, easy job though. take the plastic cover off the bottom and take out the four screw , that seperates the mirror from the mount then theres a little retainer that holds the wires in place to take off. after that you need to take out the two wires from the plug then seperate them from the rest of the wiring, then the fun starts to get all that paint and rubbery stuff off. heres a pic of the finished mirrors.
