The 30 quid was paid to main dealer as my contribution no idea how that was worked out - to be honest 36k miles the maintenance costs are not bad well to be honest was expecting it to be higher - I also have a p38 and do all the maintenance on that myself but this has had nothing go wrong that I wasn't aware of when I bought it |

On 90k miles it started to changed with a real thud on kick down it felt like it was a solenoid giving up apparently it is all sealed so one bit goes and it is a new box. They tried a double flush at a cost of 600 quid to see if that cured it and it made a big difference but it still had harsh gear change on kick down so they credited me with the 600 quid and replaced the gearbox. The dealer was brilliant logged everything and gave me a bill for 30 quid |

i dare say it does happen but definitely doesn't come up as much as the td6 and bmw 4.4. out of interest did your car have a tow bar on it when you bought it ? Range Rover Vogue 2006 4.4 AJV8 | Buckingham Blue | Parchment Leather | Supercharged Grill+Side Vents | CA02 HEY ( NOT 02 PLATE ) |

same here it had never been used for towing . The gearbox was smooth as silk it only went mad on hard driving kick down if I put it in sport mode it was fine so it was a pressure problem I think |

You also have to take into account how many members on here have their gearboxes serviced prematurely (compared to JLR suggested service schedule "ahem' ) That must help many live longer... |

I was unsure for the same reasons but did a lot of searching online and from what I found 90% of people who have had their 6 speed ZF transmission serviced are very happy and the one or two bad stories I found the box either had problems before the service or they reset gearbox adaptation settings wich tends to seriously mix up the transmission.

If it helps, I do mine every 30k as I want it to last! Adds to resale value too imho... |

I'm old school when it comes to fluid and filter changes and my 5.0 is going to get all fluids changed soon, including the transfer box and diffs as well as the brake system. The cost is low compared to having an issue.
