Plenty of owners have experienced this issue - a strong smell of diesel fumes inside the car due to the fuel fired booster heater.

It seems there is finally a resolution: Q423 released 16/3/15.

I will be getting my car done on 20/4. Updates to follow...

I'm picking up a new diesel L405 in the next few days. How, if at all, are owners alerted to fixes like this and how would I know if this fix had been applied?
Never had an LR before so don't know the score.

Some problems will get sorted when you have the car serviced. Recently discovered problems might be sorted before you take delivery of the car during the pre-delivery inspection.

Other issues are not attended to until the customer notices something is wrong and then complains about it.

The issue of diesel fumes getting in the cabin was as a result of a design fault and it has taken 2+ years for a resolution to become available.

Interestingly, my 15.5MY is not part of the campaign but I still get a diesel smell...
