DashCams

Has anyone successfully hard wired an ignition controlled DashCam into the overhead console on a L405. If so - how? Rolling Eyes

I use the central cigarette lighter socket and have routed the cabling under the passenger seat, up the B pillar to the headlining then to the windscreen. You can just notice the wire out the side of the central hatch but I can bear with that.

I coped with it that was also because my Blackviiew has been originally in my L405, then in my ATB Sport, now in my Supercharged Sport and will get moved to my SVR next month. Hard wiring each time would have been too much of a PITA for me.

This new K1S reviewed by techmoan looks good.

I'm thinking about getting one wired in.

Anyone know a good installer?

I rather like the tiny size and a single (potentially hidden) location for the recording device. More difficult to nick and neater.

I fitted my Blackvue at the weekend - used the same method that I used for my L322 - only it was easier on the L405 Thumbs Up - cable tucks nicely into the headlining along to the passenger side, then tucks behind the join at the top of the door and slips behind the black door seal.

Lower the glovebox so that you can see the fuse box. From there, you can push off the dash end panel - it's only clipped in - the cable can then run into the fuse box area and push the end panel back on.

I used a piggyback fuse holder into a fuse that was switched live.

The ground connection was a little more fiddly - I ended up with a crocodile clip onto the metal area as there was nowhere obvious to bolt a connection to.

Took under ½ hour and a good chunk of that was spent deciding where to mount the camera itself - I eventually went for high on the passenger side, just to the left of the blacked area - not a perfectly symmetrical image, but a much neater install than down lower but centered.

Whistle

Instructuions for the camera say permanent live & it records if someone bumps you whilst parked, but given the RR record with battery life, I've always wired mine to switched ignition live Thumbs Up

0801 and the more recent 0806 are very good dash cams for the price, my 0801, after updating the firmware when fitted has never given trouble since.

I know its not a 405 but fitting is in the wiki for the front and rear camera's hard wired to ignition live Thumbs Up If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!
