So if I get a new sensor fitted to the spare wheel the module should pick it up without having to fit it and drive with it on for a few miles?

no, you will have to fit on FF and drive for at least 15 minutes......saying that , LR diagnostics can re-programme the sensor while its in the spare, but that will cost.. ... - .- -.

We seemed to have solved the problem. Local indie found spare wheel sensor and / or aerial giving error. From Stans post and other research I'd done I dediced it could be the TPM module in the boot as that also acts as the aerial for the boot. We fitted a borrowed module and problem went away. Now nearly £100 lighter after buying a new one. Fingers crossed........

My car (07) has passed 2 MOT's now with this error.

I seriously wouldn't fork out any more money on new valves.

I disabled TPMS, then had the valves removed from the wheels. The valves are so weak, I consider them dangerous - I had one break off as I was checking a tyre pressure.

I fitted a TPMS system to my ffrr, I'm really happy with it , but it's not a L/R product Mine has a display that constantly shows the Tyre pressure and the temperature, and goes nuts and starts flashing and bleeping if the pressures drop or the tyre gets too hot (getting ready to go pop ). It does have the in wheel monitors, as opposed to the cap type, which I was told can't handle pressures over 30 psi. So they would have been on good for me as the rears are run at 45 psi ( needs to be for towing very heavy trailers, that have large tanks with liquid slopping about in them ).

I can understand why your turning off your systems, telling you to check the pressures and NOT telling you which tyre is at fault, and by how much, is less than useless. It's like telling you the key is in the ignition and the doors open, like you wouldn't relies when you tried to lock the car

My system has gone off a couple of times recently, but this was due to a very cold night and the sun only hitting 1 side of the car, which caused 1 tyre to be 5 psi more than the other. I just press the silence button and watch the pressure climb as the tyre warms up when driving, takes a few miles to sort it's self out. But as it tells me what the problem is I can make the decision as to what to do. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
