2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Zermatt Silver
Several faults, could all be due to pixel display?

Hello, first inquiry...
2 days before buying a 2006 supercharged L322, the owner had flat battery due to internal lights left on.. He used another battery to jump start it and the pixel display lost the whole top part of the display. The whole top section where mileage appears. The bottom window area is ok. However the reverse camera does not show up on screen... Also, the passenger window won't go up with one touch. It will however go up keeping pressed the button (manual?) and it will go down with one touch... So motor works and switches too.
He says it's because he fried the display and that affects other things.... He's ordered a new pixel board but will take nearly 2 weeks to arrive.
Do you guys think this is the case of culd he have cried something else more costly or complicated?

Hi, welcome to the forum. I'll be surprised if the display is the cause of your faults. It's more likely that they are either down to him frying some of the electrics or because the battery is a dud. These cars can behave a little odd when the battery starts to die, with all sorts of electrical gremlins thrown up. I think the window can be reset so that the one touch works again. My Previous RR's!

Thanks for the input.. I have read that indeed ithy low voltage frm battery causes all sorts of problems but this happened after jump starting... I checked again the fault of the camera... Screen goes to camera mode when putting reverse and the text on the screen is there but the camera image is pure black.
I shall try to suggest to the owner your views.. Thanks again!

Black camera on mine meant the camera was not working, new camera and the standard grainy picture was restored. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

I would start with a hard battery reset to see if the instrument cluster ecu is "in distress" then check if infact the battery on her is any good? As the instrument cluster pixels on the 06> model nearly NEVER fail!

The window probably just wants a reset (hold it in the up position for 10secs after closing)

Reverse cam is probably broken! 40% of 06my's i see are not working!

If your going to run such a complicated car in a country with a poor repair info structure, can i suggest an IID tool so you can do some minor diagnostics yourself sir Thumbs Up

Turn car off and wait at least ten minutes for the car to go to sleep , disconnect the battery leads (- first ) and touch two cables together . This will remove an residual charge in the ECU's so when you reconnect the battery(- last ) it will be a complete re-start . 2008 MY Supercharged

As above Thumbs Up but for your information, even if you connect a diagnostic computer to your car with an ECU "in distress" there will be nothing you can do to reset it without a battery reset. So, that needs to be done first sir Thumbs Up

Thanks to all who have replied....
Sorry for my delay but was in the process of buying the car and driving it back home (yesterday..about 5 hours drive). Got a reduced power (limp home) by the way for the last hour. It must be the aux cooler pump of the SC. Just realized its in that vin range. Will check that tomorrow and do the hard reset tonight. Hope to leave the l322 battery-less overnight to dissipate current before shorting the cables (wouldn't like to blow anything).

Yes, Cam-Tech-Craig, all along my intention was to buy a faultmate to diagnose a lot myself. It's costly but very complete and being for my car alone, I don't mind that it is only for one Vin. I don't know if any "latest model scanner" has appeared in the last 4-6 months that may be better but otherwise the faultmate caught my eye. Hopefully I can get a well kept used one and just change the Vin at blackbox solutions.
The battery is new but it's a 900 amp maintenance free model, so it's not really up to par. Problem is that in this country there is nothing bigger. I'll have to see how I can get one over from the USA.
Shall keep you guys up to date as soon as I get do the reset...
