Sky to Virgin - rubbish?

Due to poor wifi signal from Sky, had virgin installed today.

First impressions not good.

Sky can accommodate feeding off one box into other rooms incorporating the magic eye, giving you Sky tv from one box and with a good picture. Despite investing over £100 on RF modulators etc etc, Virgin can lend a signal for other rooms but the picture/ reception is terrible (like a 1970's coat hanger reception on a portable TV).

Waste of time. Should have stayed with Sky!

How did you split the Sky signal ? Should be exactly the same with Virgin.

Do you have a Tivo box ? If so, then no need for Magic eye, there's an iPhone/iPad/android app that will act as a remote control over wifi Thumbs Up

Tivo box yes. Bought an RF modulator and another box that plugs into that box and all plug into the Tivo box via scart lead, plus bought pyramid thingy, but the feed off picture is crap.

Sounds like it's the extra boxes that are crap rather than Virgin Whistle

Can you run new cables ?

I've got an HDMI splitter on one of my boxes and it works well.

If you have more than one Tivo & network them with cat5 cable, then you can play back shows recorded on other boxes Thumbs Up

Could possibly network them with a power line adaptor via the mains sockets.

Will ask my spark how he has wired up his virgin boxes, as he has got it in several rooms. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

^^ that's what I did when I replaced the TV in the bedroom with an HD set, except the splitter plugs into the HDMI out of the Sky box into the splitter. 1 feed goes to my AV amp and the other via cat 6 converters to the bedroom.

Works a treat and I get 1080i! thumbsup: Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I had the TiVo box for 1 week before it went back. Dogs Censored interface.

I wish each company would come up with a slicker remote. The days of these chunky 80's phone looking plastic crap are over

I find the Internet speeds more than make up for a clunky TiVo box Thumbs Up

That, and we have a 2nd box upstairs, which was included in the deal

My download speed is 0.47Mbps and upload is 0.25Mbps with a 64Ms ping.

BT at its best. Rolling with laughter

My Local exchange only gets 8Mbps so not much chance of high speeds, BT bless them have no plans to update their broadband system here either, as all their money is going on advertising super fast broadband for those already getting fast broadband. Big Cry Big Cry
