Having a Moan

:ev Censored 14 weeks after buying from a Dealer in Buckinghamshire they still have not taken the car back to fix a multitude of issues, no apology, no agreement as to what they will do. One big issue is the seat.
It was not rectified prior to my collect and agreed I would look to get it spot repaired (then submit bill), the spot repair company would not touch it as it's beyond repair, a trimmer was not happy to do it as seat had been half sprayed in and was now showing signs in the middle of the paint wearing off.
The Dealer view is its commensurate with a 50k mile 6 year old car, REALLY and they could not replace all worn seats before selling them.
What do you all think.
My last 03 sold with 98k on the clock and did not show a fraction of the wear.
Still awaiting their response after my confirmation last week of all the items and what I expect from them. Despite continually requesting this so as to avoid any ambiguity at a later date they just ignore the question. Spoke with the Dealer Principle and still awaiting agreement but a date next week now agreed to collect the car Censored Censored Censored
End of moan just needed to air it.

I'll be surprised if that can't be recoloured. Another option would be to get a price for the seat base leather cover. It's available separately as the heater element is pre fitted.

Seats can wear quicker for a number of reasons. The presence of Side steps and and chubbiness of the driver will both have an impact! My Previous RR's!

Yes suggested a new seat base and a clean and match in of the rest but at about £450.00 for the leather, no response. Clearly there has been a repair that now seems to be beyond repair. The previous spray has now rubbed of in places and just looks very shabby, we thought it was just dirty and needed a clean but it is the spray rubbing off exposing the original color below. The previous owner was clearly a large person as the seat sags to the right, I bought a seat foam to be replaced at the same time as the repair. Its just getting the dealer to step up to the mark and accept the hit.
May need some recommendations on a specialist to visit the dealer if we can agree on a way forward. Porsche 993 Targa, Buick Skylark Convertable 1968

Well the guy who says it's not repairable is either lazy or not very good...

That leather is painted leather from the factory and responds very well to repair if you know what you are doing...

The "smart" repairers tend to do half a job, if it is deep cleaned first, then adhesion promoter is used, followed by colour coat with the proper activator (this is what the smart repairers don't use as the paint will go off in the gun after about three hours and they can't be bothered to clean the guns out thoroughly) Then overcoat it with a finishing coat in a semi sheen. That is what they did at the factory and the repair will last for years, the correct filler can be used to reduce the creases.

I've brought worse back to life.... This was a 2007 TDV8 I did about 7 months ago for a friend, the before picture is after the deep clean, it looked very similar to yours before. It still looks good now...

Before

After

It also takes time to do it properly and the smart repairers want a quick in and out job at maximum profit...

If you get totally stuck, bring it to me for the day and I'll sort it...

I have been ripped off by non-franchise car dealers too many times now. The majority are barely literate snakes who would sell their own Granny if there was a profit in it!

They know how to cut corners and make tired cars look respectable, and only respond when threats of legal action become reality.

Oooh - that's been done very well. Now you've got me thinking about popping up for you to sort out mine / look over your "off-road" FF and potentially a laning trip...

most dealer/repairers paint it with something like emulsion and the very first time you apply a leather treatment the dye comes off..

@Pete, nice job that Thumbs Up ... - .- -.

A proper Connelly leather guy could make that look like new and last for ages. The leather seats are painted and professional repainting after proper preparation will do the job for less than £150.

As I said Stan, they use the right paint, it's just they can't be bothered with the adhesion promoter, and waiting for it to dry, and they don't add the hardener to the paint, and then don't overcoat it..... result...it looks OK for a while but it wears off very quickly.....

Pete, very kind of you to offer, thank you and very informative I now have a better understanding of the process and hopefully mine can be done, wish I had raised this eralier. Believe it or not the car was bought from a Main Dealer and it is now finally due back with them next week. You are right the spray is wearing off and creating a two tone look, from what you are saying all this can be fully cleaned off to allow an even colour across the whole seat. Funny you should show the arm rest as this was also done but it too is also cracking. May now write back to them 'paraphrasing' some of your words to detail what I want done. Would they be able to match to the passenger seat or would that need a clean and paint too.
Thank you Thumbs Up Porsche 993 Targa, Buick Skylark Convertable 1968

A good repairer would be able to match the colours no problem at all, most Land Rover colours are available premixed anyway...

If you get real stuck I do pop down to my brothers in Reading now and again, could sort something out....

You really need to find a place that does it as opposed to these visiting smart repairs... Pete

Update on collection, which is due Monday (sometime, no idea on time seems even this is to much of an effort).
Was on my way up to Castle Combe on Saturday morning as a friend had organised a track day for about 40 cars. Despite Stratstone's handling of the problems I though I would phone and in an effort to help them I would divert across from the M4 to drop mine off and collect a courtesy car thereby saving them the time to come to me on Monday morning. I asked for the original Salesman said hello and was greeted by 'how can I help you', I explained my offer, his response was 'I have had nothing to do with this for the last two months'. Clearly not friends but not even the courtesy of a conversation or apology. He advised his manger would call me back, again to my surprise and that of my passenger, no conversation, no apology, no appreciation of my offer, absolutely nothing. Unfortunately the event went on to 5 so was not able to drop it by.
Am I really expecting to much. Just shocked Evil or Very Mad at the impunity in which I have been dealt with.
