Decisions...Decisions....

Still looking to purchase my first RR and seen a few possibilities but wonder what other people's thoughts are...?

Do I spend £13-15k on a 2002-2004 Vogue 80-100k miles (Petrol or Diesel) or spend £18-21K on a 2005 (Petrol or Diesel) Facelift model with 70-90k miles....?

I'm only going to be driving 8-10k miles a year, mainly city driving and from what I've read on here, the fuel economy difference will only be around 3-4 mpg better with a diesel; ie. 20mpg v 16mpg... I'm sure the diesel will be more expensive to service....

I'm thinking that a newer model will have less potential for problems and fewer owners, suppose depreciation is a factor as plan on keeping the eventual car for 2 years, so head says newer the better....And when it comes to resale a 7 year-old car should be easier to sell than a 10 year-old car....

The money is burning a hole in my pocket just now.... Laughing

All thoughts gratefully received.... Bow down

Not going to comment on which model to get etc

But from a part time car dealer it's not always easier to sell a newer car. All depends on price, condition etc.

In theory the cheaper the car the less it will depreciate.

I normally buy on condition/FSH, over mileage....

I recently sold my Jaguar S-Type to a chap who had viewed 20 other Jaguar's but bought mine on the spot, no haggling on price etc. as it was by far the best car he had viewed. It was above "book price", but I ensure my cars are serviced properly at a Dealer/Specialist for the Marque....

I also have a keen interest in "Detailing" so my cars are always well maintained looks wise too.... Wink

Exactly (pretty much to the £) the dilemma i went through Recently. Currently looking for a 2005 Facelift. Or maybe an early 2006 as long as it;s before the huge tax cut off.

Aarrgh... you've got me extending the "max price" option on Autotrader.. Looking at 26k for a very leggy one though. I guess 30k is more like it for a reasonable one?. I just can;t justify it, especially considering my budget when i decided to get a new car was 10k, then went up to 15k when i saw a nice Audi i liked. Now it;s 20k for a FFRR, and having to explain why i've decided not to replace the bathroom, and have instead used the left over kitchen lino to replace the floor., much to the disgust of SWMBO Smile
